My windshield has dropped brake fluid, I need to remove it for polishing and I would like to know if it is necessary to remove the fairing or just the screws in sight.

thank you very much

I found a video that he takes without his nose

Another video he takes his nose

Some have suggested gluing the inaccessible nuts to the screen to make it easier to remove, probably an ok idea. I wouldnt do all of them because acrylic expands significantly in the heat.

If you try to change without removing the nose fairing you WILL drop one of the nuts and it WILL go into the cooling fins on the headlight unit. (Ask me how I know...)

I really want to update my screen but the hassle of removing the nose pretty much changed my mind.

Taking off the upper is not really that big of a deal. You will need to remove the mirrors, there are two bolts under the headlight unit but you only need to remove the single bolt at the front of the center of the headlight unit it takes a 3mm allen head. Then there are two single bolts (8mm socket) on either side behind the headlight unit on the outer edge of it. once you remove them it should come off pulling it straight forward. There is a rubber grommet directly in the center of the headlights a few inches above the center line. It might take a little bit to pull it straight out. I put a little grease on the rubber grommet when reinstalling the whole thing. Once its free, you should be able to remove the entire unit.

I watched the Duc dealer do it and they didn’t remove the fairing. They did have to remove the mirrors, and they unplugged them. When it came to the furtherest down bolts, he looked like he was able to stick his hand down there and catch whatever was going to fall.

One thing you’ll want to make sure to do is, make sure you fully tuck the gasket between the mirrors and the fairing back under the mirrors, or they be showing.

What screen is that? I chose the Zero Gravity dark for superbikes, but I don’t believe it’s that dark. Looks great.
Thanks man, Puig! It’s dark! I just ordered the Puig “Dark Smoke” for my V4.. fairings are ready

How’s the visibility and clarity out of the Puig? Also, and issues removing the decal? The dealer told me that the clarity out of the Puig wasn’t as good as the Zero Gravity, so I chose the Zero Gravity. What’s your take?

I’m going to buy a windscreen and make the attempt. I hope I can get the dumb thing back together. I did install the rapid bike module so this can’t possibly be any more complicated. Loo

Puig on my 1299 is great. Perfect shape and really elevated the look of the front. It’s nice and tall but I don’t look through it when I ride. Clarity is fine but it is very dark.
I removed the ugly Puig sticker just like i removed the Zard stickers on my exhaust. I hate stickers, there are already too many stickers on it from the factory. Heat & remove then goo-gone. The dark windscreens buff out nicely unlike the clear ones where the scratches on the inside are visible on the outside.
Zero gravity is great. They are all better looking and performing than stock
