Hi guys

I am doing a track day mid August and wondered if I needed a new rear. I picked up the 1199 with 4500 miles and have put on circa 1k since owning. I replaced the front as it looked old, but what do you think of this rear?

If you have to ask.......well, you know the rest. Just replace the set. Tires are cheap insurance and assurance. Ducati parts cost a lot more to replace than tires. I say assurance because it's no fun riding if all you are worrying about is questionable tires. Just my .02 cents

eventually your going to need a new rear but the one you have on there still looks ok. I would buy a new one and bring it to the track just incase. usually someone there at the track can fit the tire if you need it.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the rear has done two previous track days using tyre warmers.

Do you still think they've got some life in them?

Tire looks absolutely fine. That .... on the side is just balled up rubber where the bike hasn't been leaned over very far. It will clean itself off once you get to the track.

yea still lots of life.

but buy a new tire if it makes you feel better, and send that old tire to me and i'll ride it.

Yep, you have another trackday or two left on 'em. I know because I have gone through a few sets and I now have around 4500 miles on the bike. I do not use tire warmers and am now warming up to the idea I need 'em.

Still looks good,, Unless you are riding in Expert level and really pushing it you should be OK.. (I would ask the tire rep at the track what pressure you should run in the tires).. They will know the correct pressures for the conditions at your track..

I run the Supercorsa SC (Special compound) DOT's and I run 34 lbs in front and 27-28lbs in rear when fully heated up here in Texas and it get really hot..
If your tires are the street version (SP's) then you might need a few lb's different pressure..
