I've long been a fan of Shoei helmets. I was very pleased with my RF-1100, but the GT Air sets a new standard. Shoei's face-shield has been a selling point with me, tight seal when fully closed and the ability to "crack" it open slightly for just a little air flow to control fogging sold me several helmets ago.

The GT Air does everything better than the RF-1100. It's quieter, with my old Shoei, quiet as it was, when I entered the house I could hear the alarm's warning beeps, with the GT Air can't hear it at all. The new shield is even better, now coming with Pin-Lock standard. Instead of a small lever on the left side of the helmet to "crack" the shield, there's a small catch on the chin-bar, close normally and it is cracked a bit, a little extra pressure and its fully closed. Simpler and better function than the lever.

My RF-1100 had a slight tendency to lift at speed, the GT Air doesn't, but that may be a function of my riding position and/or fairing.

The big addition is the integral sun-shield, controlled by a easily operated slider on the left side. What a delight not to have to carry multiple glasses and change them with the coming and going of the sun. Great entering tunnels from full sun.

Best helmet I've ever owned by far.

Seriously considering shelving the X-12 for one. We sell them here and I had rhe full rep demo. Has cutouts for speakers if you want to run an intercom. I have been using Shoei since the x-8 cane out so 20 years later i may switch it up.

What about a picture?

Helmet just arrived yesterday. Jacket, last week. Unfortunately, given that I live in the middle of the MF Rocky Mtns and it won't stop snowing, neither has been on the bike yet. They do seem to function well in my living room though... :D
