I want to change out the stock grips (too soft/squishy) for some Domino grips. However, the stock throttle tube has raised edges and all that which the stock grips match up to.

Any recommendations on an aftermarket throttle tube?

I use renthal grips without issue. What class did you race in Moto?

No issue with the raised surfaces on the stock tube? I guess I could just shave them down.. /shrug

As for Moto, I've raced pretty much everything. Used to race AMA Pro 125/250cc SX/MX, back in the day. Now I just run Vet Expert/Open stuff and jam around with the little guy on his KTM 65.

ProGrip 717 GP Duo Density. Just installed on my 1199. Fantastic. No issues with install via air compressor.

No issue with the raised ridges. I never made it to the pro ranks but had a ok run at lorettas in 09 with a 13-1-3 for 4th in the +30b class. When you decide to hit the track you will rip!!

When installing the new, grips pour some rubbing alcohol in them (because it will dry quickly) and make them tacky on the inside (and slippery when wet) Then get a nozzle on an air hose and inject air in them as you are pushing them on .. The air will make them balloon up and slide over real easy... They will go on easy peasy..! :D

I like the Domino grips because they give you good feedback for the front end while braking etc. :)

However they are thinner and designed mainly for the track...If you are not used to gripping the bars with a light grip and really hold the bars tightly you will notice more vibration fatigue in your hands while riding on the street.

I'm mostly focused on the track. Had a pair on my RC8 and liked the feedback. But, I had swapped out the throttle tube on it. I'll give it a go with your air method.

Thanks for the info!

That's damn good.. those guys are quick at Loretta's. I don't know if I could even make top ten anymore in the Vet class @ Loretta's. They got guys like Reynard out there racing the vet classes..

Just re-read your original post. If you think the stock grips are too soft, don't use the ProGrips - they will be more soft/squishy. Advise the medium or hard compound Rental grips. Prob a better choice...

Cool

Let me know how it works for you... I had tried the hard way(trying to force them on by hand) for years and an old racing buddy of mine showed me how to do with the air method it about 10 years ago.. It is so much easier and you can also take old grips off that way without having to cut them if you want to reuse them..
