Hi all,

Got a deposit on a cheap version of the 1199.
This will be my first Ducati, I come from a long line of in line four's and looking forward to a new experience:)

My last bike was a BMW S1000RR that I have enjoyed immensely but I have always admired the Ducati brand and the new model ticks all the boxes!

welcome! I've nearly always had Duc's last year a 998 and BM- but like you BM going for standard 1199, looking forward to it!!

Hi Ducati Kip,

Thanks for the welcome!
To be honest, I am a little nervous as I have never had a twin and have always enjoyed a high revving engine, how did you find the contrast between the BMW and the Ducati?

I love the looks of the 1199 (all Ducati's to be honest) and was unsure what bike to get (I change bikes every 2 years) I even considered another BM, then I saw the 1199 at the NEC and my mind was made up!!!

An 1199 with ABS ticks all the boxes for me, I would have liked the S but funds just don't stretch that far!!

No shame in that bro, remember you still need to open the Performance Parts brochure :p

I think it will be a kick-A scoot:)

Welcome to the forum and to the Ducatisti family!

Nothing wrong with the standard 1199, should be a fantastic machine. You couldn't pick a better time to take the Ducati plunge.

my first ducati too, in fact my first twin, ive got a triple at the min but other than that ive done the same route and always gone for the IL4, peterboro is just down the road from me i,l make sure i say hello if we pass each other!

It was OK, missed the v twin engine braking and sound- but have to say BM is a cracking bike considering the power etc really easy bike to get on with. Always was going to be a stop gap though until another Duc caught my eye!!

Hi all. I too am going for the standard 1199 and itll be my very first Ducati.
I have always had Blades and such like so looking forward to the twin.
Sat on the 1199 at a bike show in Manchester recently and it fit's just perfect for my 5,8" frame.
Also sat on the new blade and the bars felt a little stretched for my liking.
Had to go for the 1199 and ordered it from Ducati Leeds.

Hi Gents.

I too am about to step into the realms of V Twins from inline fours. Always had Hondas for ease of use and commuting. CBR 900 Blade, Urban Tigers was my last machine. I too saw the Pinigale at the NEC and was not only blown away by its looks but it felt comfy (another 5' 8" frame :D ) so have again looked at the range in last weeks MCN show at the Excel in London. After various emails and phone calls today have decided to go for a Tricolore, delivery end of April. Happy days!!! I will also be grabbing a new set of leathers and helmet as my X decided they would look nicer on her new fella! That's another story waiting to sort itself out so any recommendations on quality of Ducati leathers much appreciated.

Welcome to the Ducatisti!

I gave Paul my deposit for an 'S' in July of last year :)

I know all the guys, and gal (can't forget Jane) really well. Good people in my book.

There are a couple of Ducati track days organised by DOC , DSC and dealers like Moto Rapido....so a track day meet up is certainly a strong possibility
