Number of Panigale's produced?

Does anyone know the number of Panigale's that will be produced for 2012?

My dealer told me 2200 were coming to the US. I can't confirm that number though.

Ducati were expecting to sell 750 Pani in the UK this year according to a bike mag.

This article says 8,000 are to be produced this year. But with the unfortunate earthquakes, and other delays, I wonder if they'll hit that number.

Thanks for the info guys. I received my S/ABS last week and it is awesome. I feel fortunate that I'm able to be part of Ducati's history especially with the smaller quantity.
