I got the new scan tool but cannot get this thing to cooperate with my MAC AIR
Toady installed an android emulator but still
No joy ,screen will not show a keyboard & has a not connected to network message,
I m desperate for some help!
 
I can’t do anything until it’s registered is what I understand yes? I wasn’t really positive it was a stand alone device till you just told me, no clear instructions at all come with it
 
I had a problem with it initially, where I couldn't register it. My Wi-Fi router was blocking it as it sends login data unencrypted. So I suggest using a unique password when you do get it to connect.

Are you trying to hotspot it to the Mac Air to connect?

I have the Proton VPN (free) app on my iPhone. I set it to a Japanese server and turn on Personal Hotspot. I then set the OBDStar to connect to the hotspot.
 
No actually GEEK SQUAD had me download an emulator Bluestacks because it is an android device but that hasn’t worked either. I think I get what you’re saying I will try to do that as you suggested.
I don’t enjoy trying to fix these computer issues it’s time I’ll never get back, gimme some wrenches!
 
I don't know why you would need an emulator to register the device. That was some terrible advice.
 
There's no need to connect it to a laptop to use or register it. You only need to connect it to WiFi and create an account. I do the Proton VPN to a Japanese server as I sometimes get connection errors otherwise.
