Hi Guys;

I found a set of OEM Tricolore body pieces for my 2012 1199s Tricolore which came to me with all red bodywork. I also picked up a set of Chinese Tricolore bodypieces last summer in a deal with a bunch of other parts. The Chinese pieces are "ZXMT" brand if that means anything.

In the process of cleaning up the OEM pieces I noticed a couple curious details that I had never noticed before and I was able to compare the details between the OEM and Chinese pieces.

First, I haven't fitted it to my bike yet but the general shape seems pretty close. The most obvious differences are in the shade of red and some of the lettering is not quite right. The biggest difference though is actually not quite so obvious until you look very closely. It turns out that on the OEM Tricolore pieces, the center white number panel on the nose is a pearl white wrap with the black stripe and the Ducati name on the left side on its edge. Once I realised this, I checked the side fairings and sure enough, the upper rear wing with the black stripe at the top is also a pearl white wrap. On the Chinese fairings, all of the white and black stripes are paint.

Look at the OEM nose (p/n 48110743)...

Note the differences in the "DUCATI" logo and the black stripe. Also, the red and green colors are not quite right.

I am still looking for OEM Tricolore tail pieces so if anyone has them (for less than an arm & a leg) please let me know. For now, I installed the ZXMT tail on my bike. It fits pretty well and it is far away from the red tank so the different shade of red isn't so noticeable.

One more gratuitous picture...

I got the Tricolore bodywork installed this evening and now I am ready to go for a ride tomorrow which is predicted to be an 80 degree day!

Outstanding! I saw an 899 with the same chinese Tricolore bodywork at a bike show from a distance of 2 feet away and it looked great as well.I definetly could see myself in the future doing this as well.

Yes indeed! I am happy to have the OEM Tricolore bodywork on mine finally but the Chinese isn't horrible. Here's a shot from yesterday's ride with a buddy on his BMW adventure bike. It was a slow ride! :)
