Brothers addicted to speed. At any price. Motorcycle road racing is the most dangerous of all motor sports. One in which men compete at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour on closed country roads. Roads that are lined with trees, telegraph posts, stone walls. Ireland and the Isle of Man are two of the few places in the world where the sport still survives. Narrated by Liam Neeson, this is the dramatic and poignant story of two sets of brothers from Northern Ireland who have dominated road racing for over thirty years. Two generations of one family that have been united by success. And united by tragedy.

Here we go...

Back in 80s and 90s, in the midst of "Yer Maun's" reign as King of the Mountain Course, I was as rabid a fan as ever of IOM TT and Irish Road Racing. Then I got older and wiser and realized what folly these men committed in pursuing this particular sport after they had families and real responsibilities. Fine to race for mostly the honor of having the biggest sack in the paddock (although Joey did make decent money as an exception), when you're young, dumb, and full of #%?*. But get real, modern bikes on these road courses is pretty suicidal and nonsensical outside of the small sphere of influence. Leaving families and loved ones this way is simply selfish. Not like you're in your country's military defending real concepts higher than yourself, rather making advertisers, promotors and manufacturers money by risking the most sole possession - your life. Today I watch Robert's sons Michael and William riding on the ragged edge and just cringe. Their poor mom is all I can think.

You make your own choices in life, but play stupid games and win stupid prizes in this case.

To my rant I forgot to ask the question of what percentage of revenue from the sale of this film is going to the Dunlop families or any of their interests? Again an example of people making money on the backs of these racers and promoting it as a "sport".

How do you purchase this title (and others on there) on that website?

No knowledge of details. But I suspect they'd not be able to make this film (at least what the trailer seems to portray) without the full consent/cooperation of the Dunlop family.

A great and moving movie.

If you are a motorcyclist at heart, you will understand it.

If you are a racer you will feel with them.

Pretty strong.

I beg to differ - 500 MPH at 50 ft, makes bike racing a walk in the park in comparison. I have participated (crew), and waaaay more dangerous.

Reno Air Races - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

what's the mortality rate per mile traveled for these air races vs bikes? i need stats above and beyond "waaaay" bc gen speaking planes have better stats than bikes (horseback being worst of them all)...

I think 99 out of 100 people would saying racing airplanes is more dangerous. Any crash is pretty much fatal. But if you want to go on statistics, then when I am cave diving I am enjoying the most dangerous sport in the world. But I feel perfectly safe, as I do when I ride my horse (second most). :)

Interesting, that makes at least three cave divers on this Panigale site (current and former).

i ordered it from the UK and watched it on my computer (region free DVD :D )

apparently there are some streaming or download options in this thread.

i can also see if i can create an image for you...

Just torrent it and save the trouble (and money). But the trouble was what got me first

If you feel bad make a donation and pay it forward or something :)

We've got a world format DVD player since my wife is from Ukraine, myself from UK, have large collection of Euro & US videos, players are affordable so at least revenue stream will go through the correct channels
