300 miles on the clock, and down she goes...

Well I wasn't there when it happened, and hence I need some investigative help. I show up to my father's house, where the bikes are kept. He already had the bike out of the garage waiting for me and he informed me there are scratches on the bike. He is adamant that he didn't drop the bike. I'm already super suspicious, but he does take the bike out for me often so that was not out of the ordinary. He has been in Europe for the past 3 weeks and I was the last one to ride the bike. I had a side convo with his wife and she supported his story that he has not ridden the bike since before they went to Spain.

I used the bike while they were in Spain and did not drop the bike, nor did I notice any scuffs on the bike, and I notice everything. There are a ton of people at his house regularly, but it is almost impossible that anyone would have dropped it, because my GSX-R is parked to the Duke's right side, and if the Duke fell, it would have fallen into the GSX-R, which did not happen.

I am suspicious because it seems as though steering MUST have been unlocked when the incident occurred and the steering is always locked otherwise, which leads me to believe it happened on his watch (no one has access to the keys other than us two). I really couldn't care less about it, but not knowing what happened is driving me crazy! I asked him 4 times and kept saying, "I didn't do it, if I did I would tell you. I am going to be the one paying to fix it, so why wouldn't I tell you!?"

The more I write this out and start thinking about it, the more I think my pops isn't telling the truth. Is it possible that the marks on the front brake lever and bar end occurred with the steering in the full lock left position?

The bike definitely was not moving when it occurred, and it appears whomever lost their balance/footing did all they could to save it. There are only a few marks on the bike, and the few scratches on the bike are all vertical, indicative of the fact that the bike did not slide.

I am ashamed to say that I have already solved this mystery for you, you of all people Indiana Jones the greatest mystery/riddle/clue/mystery solver in the world (Behind Maverick from Top Gun) could not..

This is how it went down.. Your dad and his wife went to Spain and Sasquatch came over, he was going to take the bike for a ride when the Leprechaun showed up. They starting fighting over who goes first and the Leprechaun tried to bite Sasquatch on the leg and missed hitting your bike in various places. That it's that was all that happened and your Dad feels so bad that Sasquatch broke into his house again that he has offered to pay for the repairs.. You should count yourself lucky that Nessie didn't show up and just wreck that ......

Honestly it looks like someone rubbed up against it with something or rubbed it into something. Like a wall!

Just replace all the parts, your bike looks new, like nothing happened. Give the old man a break.

Study found, kids 5 and under lies the most, 2nd is people 60 and older.

If you don't trust him to give you an honest answer about dropping it then why do you trust him to store your bikes in the first place?

He says he didn't do it so believe him and drop it or don't and find another place to keep your bikes.

I trust him, and I believe him, but I can't figure out how it could have been dropped...so it's kinda driving me crazy. In thr grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal at all! Life is good.

The bike fell over at a dead stop.

It wasn't at YOUR house, so its your fault no matter how you slice it.

FK blaming anyone, you own it.

Move past this and enjoy that sweet bike.

If you say there are lots of people over at his house, I could see a couple of them pulling the bike out. Pivoting it on the front wheel by lifting the back wheel and having a peek. One sat on it and lost his balance. They shoved it back in.

Just a thought.

PS it wasn't me :D

".... blaming anyone, just get over it"
"forget it and move on
"
.......

It is easy to say .... like that when it isn't YOUR bike. I would be mad as .... if I was him.

He says the steering was unlocked when it happened, only him and his dad have the keys. He wasn't there, which means his dad was the only one who could have unlocked the steering.

If his dad said he didn't drop it, then maybe he didn't drop it. But he could have unlocked the steering so somebody else could sit on it and play with it. Maybe he didn't drop it, but I find it almost impossible to believe that a bike fell over and was damaged in his garage, and he has absolutely no knowledge of how it happened.

If it were me, that would be the last time I trusted him to take care of/keep my bike. Yes, it is your bike. But it was damaged in his garage, while under his care. He wouldn't have an opportunity to let it happen again.

Its also possible the damage happened while you were parked somewhere else ( a gas station for example ) and someone knocked it over and picked it back up. You drove it home without noticing

Those are his thoughts.

It's water under the bridge at this point I suppose...

If you do your detective work, my guess is you'll find the scratch marks on the concrete where the bike fell over, very close to where it's normally parked.

My guess is, someone tried to back it out with the steering locked and dropped it.

Have you checked that the steering lock is not broken from the tip over?
