oil leak at filter cover

Hello every one, I have notice last night that I have a bit of oil leaking from under the oil filter cover . I have changed the 2 o-rings and use proper torque for the 2 bolts. I have also made sure to put the cover in the proper way .
I know it's a Ducati but has this happened to some one else?

i think its funny how you say "its a ducati"

I've done over dozens of oil change myself and never happened.

When you turn on the engine, do you see oil coming out? Does it drip constantly? or did you notice after a ride on the floor?

Its hard to give you advice when it wasn't me who did the work.

If the cover is not lined up perfectly, it will vibrate and "seal" will be broken.

and are you sure, it wasnt oil left after you did the oil change and maybe not cleaned it good enough?

It's only seeping out . I have let the engine run for 5-10 minutes and and noticed oil under

the cover. Told myself that I must of pinched a seal so I called my Duc dealer and ordered

2 new o-rings. I have removed the cover again , cleaned everything , reinstalled. I have

road tested for about 40 minutes lest night and problem is still there. The cover is kind of

hard to push back in but with some wiggling it goes to the back.

Do you rub some oil on the seals before you push the cover back on? Is the cover turned for the proper side to be up?

along with this, did you alternate tightening the bolts? not just one bolt then the other.

Not to pick on you but we just trying to figure out the problem.

I also wrote with Black maker with UP arrow to make sure I put the cap back on correctly.

If you look at the circle on the cap, there is a thin side to the edge and a thicker side to the edge. The thin side goes to the top.

Replace both o rings lube them before installing. Also had a thin film of rtv at the bottom half of the cover from factory.

You should also be able to reuse o rings.

Only time I have seen this is when the surface of the case was damaged by an improper installation of the filter cap. This in turn compromised the O ring upon installation I don't think you can actually install the cap backwards. So check the integrity of the filter bore. Check the integrity of the O ring surface on the cap. Check the roundness of the cap and the bore. Check the O rings when you pull the cap. Are they cut in any way? If so, find the spot that did it and fix the surface. Make sure you pull the cap straight out and install it straight in. The correct tools will help. Do not rock the cap in the bore. The tolerance is tight and you will probably damage the bore surface. If the integrity of the entire sum of the components is within spec, then your issue is that it's a Ducati and not surprisingly, it has a leak. That's what happens when you have wine at lunch and use glue to put an engine together. The solution then is to carry a rag. Problem solved.

yes did it with fresh oil.Cover thinner side up.

I did alternate from bolt to bolt. No worries I know everyone is trying to help.

Thin side up.

About the rtv, not sure about this because it was done at the dealer.

after work tomorrow ,I'll drain the oil and have another look at this situation.
