1400 miles, and after a weekend of hard riding the bike developed a head gasket oil leak. Apparently this is a common issue. Talked to dealer and will be covered by warranty.

Other issue, the gears became a little more tricky to engage at times as the heat built up. I'll have them check that too.

I am taking her tomorrow and will report back.

Other than that, this is such an awesome bike. Night and day difference with my ol' 848 in nimbleness and stability. And those brakes are a dream (with race fluid).

end of report for now.

You're lucky...I developed that leak at 6500 miles (head gasket)...2 months after warranty expired. Purchased extended coverage at everyone's urging...McGraw/Western...after being reassured by dealer that track-day use was ok. Have now been told they're denying the claim b/c Western's inspector believes "it's been on the track." Of course it has...that's all it's used for now! I've asked dealer to speak with their salesperson who sold me the policy and have yet to hear back....

McGraw is terrible. I had similar issue with them and they will do anything to get out of paying a claim. I am actually considering suing them for bad faith and an illogical claim decline.

faulty slave cylinder, another classic problem with this bike. not only it was harder to shift, it was really hard to get it in neutral. is this the case?

What 007Duc said ^ .... Air in the clutch lines. Well played Sir.

And replaced head gasket under warranty and added some additional sealant for future protection. Voila!

I have to bleed my clutch every 500 mile +- a few, then its like new again, anyone know is it the master or slave drawing air in?

....the latest idea for a remedy is higher boil point fluid from Brembo or Motul - I just bleed it at the lever before each ride (usually)

I realized the bleeder off the lever assembly was not very tight, after tightening it and bleeding the lines, it worked well.

Unfortunately, after a 100 miles or so following the repair, the valve cover gasket is leaking oil again. Very little, almost a sweat, but it's there. Back at the shop for re-work.

I'm about to remove the ABS system custom brake-lines switch fluid to Castrol SRF racing brake fluid
