Went for a long ride yesterday and air temps were in 70-80's. About 100 miles into the ride I noticed the "Overheating" in the upper left corner of the dash. I pulled over immediately and could barely get the clutch to function. Great, this is my 4th Ducati and I am familiar with air in the clutch. A bit of radiator steam was now wafting up through the fairing, and I waited a few till the bike cooled down. The other rider had an 8mm and I drained out the air in the clutch. No radiator fluid was coming out of the bike.

I did a walk around and looked for rock damage to the radiators and didn't see anything. Let the bike cool down, and kept going and now steam was coming up from the front of the bike. I got her to a shop for storage and inspection. Mileage on the bike is approximately 1800 miles. Dealership will be picking up from the motorcycle shop in the town I had to leave her in.

I have gap insurance, full coverage and its obviously under warranty as well. Anyone have something similar happen to them? Had no issues like this with my 2019 V4S.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, some have also suggested that the water pump might have failed since temps were normal during the ride.

Before we get into shotgun guesses as to part failure...check the coolant level first. Check to see if the fans turn on when at operating temp. Start the bike and let it idle. The fans should turn on eventually.

What kind of radiator guard? Will it protect against the kind of damage you had?

Some version I found on Amazon: Panigale V4 Motorcycle Radiator Guard Protector & Oil Guard Cover for Ducati Panigale V4 V4 S V4 R V4 Speciale 2018-2020/V4 S Corse 2019 2020(Black)

My CNC guards have been on order for over a month from Belisimoto and I don't have any idea when they will be shipped. The damage was a little tiny holy caused by a rock. put a hole the size of a pin head in one of the tubes on the upper radiator. I assume this guards will work, and since this is the first time I have had a drama like this in 35 years of riding, I hope the last time as well.
