I have a practically new 2015 1299 Panigale S with only 2000 miles on it and it has been getting overly hot than normal. Hot as in 30 minutes to an hour of riding equals temperatures of over 220 and its gotten highest to 255f. The coolant was checked twice and is fine and my ducati dealer remapped the bike to its factory settings. Also after the engine is off the bike struggles to cool down. Its also sitting at Ducati right now. So currently just asking for suggestions and theories.

lol hi, welcome to ducati life. the bike is hot.

suggestions:
MAC radiator
water+water wetter or engine ice
wire a fan switch to switch on before it hits 217 degrees
remove cats from stock exhaust (email Phl i believe)
fuel module (some say bike runs lean, some say rich. if its running lean though, its going to overheat faster)
the thicker race or comfort seat helps a tad. my ... doesnt nearly get as swampy anymore
move up north
move faster/stop less
you mentioned the bike struggles to cool even when off, get you a halfway decent fan and leave it in your garage, if i come home on a hot day and the bike is running 225-230, i always park it in front of the fan and leave the garage cracked and fan blowing thru the engine block to cool it down a bit quicker.

theories:
you're sitting on a 200HP motor with the exhaust from the rear cylinder running right underneath your ... while the giant piece of metal you're sitting on is bolted directly to the rear cylinder head. it doesn't take a degree in thermodynamics to understand that its gonna get quite hot riding this bike. also, theoretically doing all the mods i mentioned won't help a bit. ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯ YMMV

the bike isn't meant to sit in traffic on a hot day in southern weather. get out of traffic and to the fun roads as quickly as possible, and if you think you're going to be stopped more than 45-60 seconds, shut the bike off.

Is the fan working? Does your other 1299 do the same thing? Did this just start happening?

I have a new in the box Mac water only lower radiator with 35mm veins. PM me if your interested. $400 plus shipping

the fan is working and i have had the bike for only a month and my other panigales never got that hot, its been happening since i bought it. Even Ducati said it should't get that hot.

Mine has never gone above 230 even in stand still traffic on I-35. I would say something’s up. What are Vito and the guys saying?

I also went the MAC radiator route and never looked back.

Here was the cause of my overheating recently:

Shaft for the pump sheared off...thanks to Brian at BMS for catching that-

Mat

I have the same year bike and had the same problem when I got it initaially. Took it to the dealer and it was a ECU issue that was able to be fixed through an update. It still gets warm but no where near what it did and is more temp stable.
