Just joined the forum after finally putting the deposit down on a 1299S and wanted to say hello so, er......hello!

Hoping to pick up some good info and have a little banter.

Welcome and congrats on the 1299s. Lots of good people and info here. Be sure post some pics when get it. Any mod plans?

Thanks flobrandx, it's gonna have the Akra's on from day one as well as the Ducabike clear clutch cover (a bit showy and crass but I love the look!) plus I will sort out some carbon bits and a tail tidy/fender eliminator. Potential to get some BST's as have always lusted after them but will need to sneak those in under the radar of she who must be obeyed...

See you also have an Aprilia. I have a 2004 Mille Factory that I've owned since new and she's my baby. I should sell her as I just don't get to ride it but I can't bring myself to do it...

Congrats! You're about to own an incredible motorcycle!

Just a suggestion on the fender eliminator.... Check out this one New Rage Cycles sells if you haven't already decided on one. Ducati 1299 Panigale Tail Tidy Fender Eliminator Kit
It's very clean, the turn signals are visible in the day, and is about the best looking of the bunch in my opinion.

Thanks all. Wrt the New Rage Cycles fender eliminator I couldn't agree more that it's the best looking one. Problem is, us Brits are obliged to have plates the size of a small boat sail which I just can't see working in that location unless we replace the rear shock with a piece of scaffold!

The Evotech tail tidy looks like the safest bet currently as I just can't get on with the look of the Competition Werkes light from their version. What's everyone else running?

I have a Rizoma on mine, gf has R&G on her 899. The Rizoma one is, in theory, adjustable, although I have never bothered with that feature.

I'm running an r&g one. I only found out about Evotech after I nipped into Italia Moto in Lincoln. Evo tech borrow bikes off them to make things. My bike is now dripping in the stuff. Levers, spindle sliders, and the excellent radiator guards. If I had known about them before I'd have an evotech tail tidy as it the cleanest one I have seen.

Thanks Joker, I took a look at the R&G one but prefer the Evotech design.

South West, I know Moto Italia well having demoed a few bikes from them over the years. Tony was the sales guy there for some time but moved over to SMC in Sheffield on the Ducati side. I'll never forget me and the step-bro taking the demo 1098S and a brand-new 312R out for a few miles and my mechanically unsympathetic brother-from-another-mother (on the 50-mile 312R) came past me on a straight flat to the stops, chin on the tank at about 170mph! I couldn't help but feel really pissed off as I am the gentlest of the gentle to run bikes in and warm them up properly - he's a Neanderthal!!! :D

Looks like it's going to be the Evotech one for now...

Is your brother still alive ?

I defo go evotech. My R&G one Looks fine but I was a tad annoyed that you have to cut the number plate wire light and put a new connector on it. I don't think you do on the evo tech looking at the instructions. I felt a bit guilty I test rode a 1299 twice from Italia Moto and ended up buying from elsewhere due to the bike being the right price.

Yup, he's still alive bradp51 (thankfully!). He's calmed down a bit now (fast approaching 40) and has migrated from 748/996's to Multistrada with panniers so the missus can go on the back....wtf!

Evotech it is then I think, thanks sw

Anyone looked at the Competition Werkes tail tidy - the one with the higher plate location?

welcome to the sickness! I had a 2005 RSVR which i sold a couple years ago. I still miss her to this day though.

You will like the 1299s. such a tight machine with a very aggressive spirit!
