Question to all!
Has anyone ever had there Ducati painted a different color?
Display your pics and if possible please Let me/ us know what it cost.
I am thinking of maybe painting my panigale and don't know what a good basic paint job will cost

Thank you

Chris

it not as easy as it sound, for a decent paint job you looking at $1500 to 3000, the problem is that if you paint your bike the value is going to go down (nobody want a bike repainted) get a set of oem plastic and paint it keep your new plastic for reselling the bike.

Hi Chris ,
I bought a second hand set of rear fairing.
1. Buffed back to parent plastic
2. 3 coats of primer. Sanded back with 400 grit
3. 5 coats of high gloss acrylic
4 waited 2 hours and added decals
5. 4 coats of top coat clear. Leave for 1 week to harden
6. Wet and dry with 2000. This took 20 hours
7. Polish with t cut and woolen pad
8. Finish with polish and rubber pad.

Pic above is after 2000 wet sanding, pic below shows LHS buffed and polished after sanding to remove the orange peel effect, RHS pic is the just after top coat applied. You can see the mirror finished difference

Below is fitted. All up about 30 hours of work and $400AU in materials excluding fairing. Might have been cheaper by a professional but not as much fun.

Where do you buy the ducati decals from?

Can you purchase the original decals from the dealer?

Cheers
Chris

I bought track bodywork which is basically identical to the OEM stuff but is not painted.

I painted it myself. Built a paint booth in my garage, pics below.

This is what the track bodywork looked like in its raw form

WOW!!! Very cool!!!
And: Sir, your garage is outstanding!

Serious Hook Up Here!

FYI Brother!!

You probably don't know me, or my history with the absolute BEST Ducati Custom Painter in the USA, but if interested shoot me a PM man! :)

Also- for more info on this so i don't leave ya hanging, do some searching for Connecticut Cycle Refinishing (CCR) here and in general. Several members here have had not only parts, but ENTIRE bikes done by my great friend of 25 years done by him. AND just a little fact - Absolutely NONE of the lettering, logos, etc are done by clear coating "decals" etc. Everything is hand painted on by using stencils of the exact logos and you will NEVER find a clear coated piece on his amazing work.

I already know what you are thinking my friend..- too expensive right?

NOPE!!! Not at all, matter of fact, you would literally fall off your chair to find out what an entire bike costs to paint either in a stock type fashion OR Customized colors and patterns of any kind my friend! PLUS - you get an even better deal when using me as your reference too! Trust me on this. Sean Lezotte of CCR is hands down one of the very best in the Country and will seriously hook you up ! :D

Would LJUICE or any others who've had Sean do work like to comment?

Some of his work on my bikes attached for ya too. Which pics don't even do it justice - you have to see it all close up!

I cosign with Gunny. Sean has produced some amazing piece of art and my bike is one of them. I had my race bodywork sprayed twice by Sean, and each time it looks brand new. I would trust anyone else with my bodywork.

I used to be ATV riding buddies with Sean when I lived up in CT and started CCR.

In 2007 he painted my 1098 bodywork and it still looks as good today as when he did it 8+ years ago.

+1 with Gunny and Leon. I had my track bodywork sent directly from sean from the retailer (Sportbiketrackgear) and he did an amazing job.

The paint booth cost me about $150 in materials, about a 1/3 of that was the heavy duty polythene sheet, of which I still have enough to do about 2 more paint booths.

I made it as a disposable unit, knowing that when I was finished, I'd just break it down and throw it away, although I'll keep the floor as that doesn't get in the way of anything.

If I take this one down and later need another one in the future, I would most likely use PVC tube and fittings, so I could just slide it all apart when I've finished.
