My 1299S have 2300 km and 2 months, and twice he has not started, only after several attempts finally starts, the last time I took my 15 attempts to start. Somebody knows what happened or how to fix that problem? Thank you very much.

Not sure if bikes in Mexico are spec'd with the charcoal canister. If so, look into removing it as I believe that was a cause of many hard starts on the 1199 series atleast.

There should be a few threads on this site with step by step instructions.

after I installed my carbon subframe covers, I went to start my bike. Nothing. Motor turned over and over, but would not catch at all. wtf?

and then I realized...when I put the tank back on...you know that fuel line that you're supposed to click back into place? yeah....forgot that step :p

so, lifted the tank, connected the fuel line, and surprise!! it starts!!! :D

but in all seriousness, take that charcoal canister and toss it in the garbage!! it's a very easy job to do, with minimal tools required. when I removed mine, I found it to be full of liquid gasoline. Really?

And now...I can't remember if I plugged the line that returns to the throttle bodies. I'm sure I did, I just don't remember what I plugged it with. Dammit. Now I have to pull the fairing and double-check, or I'll NEVER get to sleep!

pulled the fairing. I plugged it with a nice fat bolt, sealant, and a hose clamp. And....now I can sleep :p

Removal of the charcoal canister is a must on these bikes, otherwise you'll be dealing with the no start issue and as mentioned before, it's an extremely easy to do job.

Do you guy's leave the vent line open or put a filter on it? I'm figuring it has to vent.

I really fought against removing the charcoal cannister. But after many embarrassing hard starts in front of large crowds laughing at the bike and eventually a dead starter I removed the cannister and haven't had a problem since 2012. There's a simple how to in removing it. (disclaimer, not all the 1199s had this problem)

3 things... Canister issue + don't fill the gas to the top of the neck (read the tag in front of your tank) + stop your bike with the red button instead than the key or the bike stand (as the manual recommends).
Some people suggest as well to let it run iddle few seconds before turning it off.
Mine did the same as well, hasn't repeat the issue again, but a its a common problem with the Panigale. I wouldn't be worry about it.

I ALWAYS use the kill switch to shut the bike down and let it idle 30 sec to calm down after a "fun"ride.

Thank you I take your advice, always fill the thank until the top and turn off the bike inmediate without idle time

I just got one with less than 120 miles on it and it has been struggling to fire up after several winds of the button (holding it in). It seems to fire up fine after the 2nd press of it but I just read about 30 pages on the 1199 section of people having the same issue.

I wonder, do all models have the charcoal cannister? I live in the UK and from what I understand, I may not have it?

Pretty sure everyone model has it. You can probably see it if you look on the right hand side between the engine and the fairings. Might be able to see it.

I'm going out for the day in about 12 hours with a group, so will see how it holds up after riding for a while and trying a hot start. Bike starts perfectly when it's cold, just after it has been sat for 5 minutes or longer it struggles.

At least I know some tricks if it does refuse to start but it's not very confidence inspiring reading all this after buying the bike brand new.

Just come from a 14 model R1 and never owned a Ducati before. Aside from the starting issue, the bike is blowing my mind and I've not even bedded it in properly.

Had the starting issue on the 1199 and I removed the charcoal canister and started up each and every time after that. I have not had any issue with the 1299, the canister is still in (5 months and thousands of miles) it fire right up.
