Panigale 300!?

That would be awesome. Ktm's RC390 could use some ... appeal competition in this range. Ducati is doing the smart business thing here. Purists may not care about this but appealing to the masses and making more people aware of the Ducati brand means more business. This would be hugeeeeee overseas. Maserati did this with their Ghibli and they're selling the .... out of that car. Prior to that, the name Maserati meant 100k+ car. Now, the Ghibli leases for less than $600 per month with 0 down for a$75-$80k car. Flood the market with an entry level model. Good for you Audi/Ducati.

They should brand it the Minigale. Here it is pictured w/ the upmap installed.

IMO It would be the same as Ferrari offering a cheap 4 cylinder 458 Italia for learner drivers... We already have a million squids on Ninja 300's riding around here, I'd be so happy to own a bike that looks exactly like the 500 other 300cc Panigales squidding around the city.

As long as it retains its exclusiveness it should be a good marketing move in my opinion.

Not really any different to the 916/Cagiva Mito set up years ago, though I must admit
its a tad frustrating to think of the streets suddenly buzzing with what are essentially cheap copies. It does devalue the model image somewhat, but until we see the final product its all just speculation.

Far out the elitist Ducati owner does exist . At least it will give 899 owners someone to look down on the food chain just gets bigger

That article sound like nothing more than some dude who just came up with an idea in his basement and decided to make a rumor about it.

It seems to me like it isn't something he has heard from a credible source, it is something HE made up.

Regardless, the small bike market is booming so it wouldn't surprise me if Ducati went after a portion of that market. But I look for them to come out with something more in the 700-750cc range. Making the 899 bike closer to 1000cc opened things up for them to bring in a true MW bike.

A 660 learner panigale would be a great idea. Big rumours going around MV Agusta (F3) and Triumph (Daytona) may be doing similar. Which would be great for the market and riders especially here in Australia with restrictions for 3 years.

This rumor however is stupid and would never happen.

Now I would love to see yet another (little) Panigale in our garage for my wife.

In Europe driving license is a bit complicated. I bet the A2 class is interesting area for Ducati business managers.

Make it a single and I'd be on it in an instant. Even if it's a twin, I'd still be interested in a test ride.

The supermono was always one of my favorite "niche" bikes. I thought it would be cool if Ducati came out with a modern street version to compete with smaller bikes. Although it should stomp a mud hole in the rc390 as the old one was 277lbs wet and had 60 hp. So to do the name justice it would need to be something special.

But as far as the OP, I think the rumor came from this article and is just a passing idea with no validity. There is this new teaser ad from Ducati that talks about "low speed excitement." But I'm guessing that they are coming out with a smaller scrambler or even a scooter.

I would buy bike #001............. but if you know much about Ducati, you know this is not going to happen. Ducati does not build "beginner" sport bikes, that would be like Porsche coming out with a Miata competitor, won't happen. Porsche wants the guy with the Miata looking at the Boxter Spyder with reverence and hoping to some day own one.

What about the Boxter/Cayman? It's not a "Miata competitor" but it certainly is the toned down entry model.

If the 959 is their smallest sport bike now, they ONLY make liter bikes? I've got to believe they will come out with a new small or mid-displacement.
