Today I am going to travel from Orange County (California) to Las Vegas! The trip is a total of 265mi 1 way and is going to take about 4.5 hours with stops for gas etc. This will be the first time I've done this trip on my panigale 1299, I've made this trip on my 07 r1, and it was definitely a fun run! The bike has just crept over 8000mi and has new tires and an oil/chain service recently done to it. I feel it is more than ready to beast across state and I just wanted to get your guy's stories, if you have any, of big trips like this or even bigger. Anyone have any bad experiences?

I just picked my 1299 up yesterday. Road from south side of Birmingham to northeast of Atlanta. It was a little over 250 miles. First time on the pani and she and I agreed to not do interstate again lol. She did great, average of 40+ mpg cruising at 80mph. I didn't do so great. My butt n wrists were screamin for some pain meds. But I'm 40+ yrs old and my body has been beat up from MX and MMA so it's more than likely me and not the pani. I have a Roadglide Ultra for the long interstate trips (and to haul my golf clubs). Have fun on your trip and be safe.

That's a Sunday morning ride... Hydrate and stretch. Try a couple of long days like 700 miles back to back, then come back and report.

I've done ~700 miles in two days in the smokey mountains. With a few stops, hydration and stretching I was all good!

I was coming home from Laguna seca to Edmonton Alberta Canada. Took highway 1 up to eureka and than started crossing towards Montana. 2900 kms. Did it in 3 days. 1st day was 780 kms the other was 1100 and the last was just over 1000kms. Torture. But id do it again in heartbeat. I'm comfortable doing 600-800 kms. About 450 miles a day. After that it gets to be a bit much.

Just after I bought mine on a very nice day I got lost in the moment. The moment ended up being about 300 miles of varying roads in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. Only stopped for fuel and a drink. I was a little sore afterwards but compared to the trumpet I may as well of been in a car! Surprisingly comfortable.

I did my break-in mileage all in one day, by doing a 640 mile trip from where I live, all the way up Hwy 1 to Mendocino and back down the long way, inland. I was a bit creaky when I finally got home, but not too bad for being 54 years old and having multiple Rugby and motorcycle crash injuries :D. I think I made 5 gas stops, total.

If it's all freeway miles, then you will probably seize up unless you move around a lot. On my trip, it was all twisties, so I was never locked in one position for too long.

Cheers and have fun.

Make sure you have the comfort seat, it makes a world of difference:D

I am pretty lucky in that because of where I live (the Ozarks) that is a good distance for a day of canyon carving; but it is also a pretty typical day. My Saturday morning rides are generally between 180 and 260 miles with the occasional 350-to-400 mile day thrown in.
The longest trip I did with mine was the weekend I broke it in, had first service and road it home (1200 miles) back in May 2012.
I actually found it to be extremely comfortable for a superbike.
Bring a few basic tools that will enable you to remove the fairing or bleed the clutch (8 mm and 11 mm wrench, tubing), some zip ties and a little bit of oil, brake fluid and of course a tire plug kit.
Have fun!
