So finally managed to get another track day on the R on a track I know and the results were mixed.

The stock set up is too harsh for me probably 190lbs with gear and the bike was getting unsettled going over some bumps on the track when tipping in.

the other issue was the drive out of turns as I was getting alot of headshake more than my previous R.

Besides this the bike is very good and the above points should be easy to fix once I can get some good base settings.

the other thing is while the bike is great I'm not sure how big a leap it is from the 2013, i'll try and do a back to back comparison.

So you didn't have these problems on the 13 you had?

No but that's because I set the suspension up correctly and the new R I should be able to do the same just what weight the stock springs are for as the bike is very very stiff especially the back.

The headshake was there but it feels a little bit more pronounced now, it might be that the engine spools up quicker and the front is lifting but I need a little bit more saddle time to nail it down.

Same problem ( headshake) my pani R, is that any help if moving swingarm longest/ lowest position?
Cheers,

Have you tried turning in the steering damper? Is your sag set? I'm your weight, maybe slight heavier but I've only got 40 miles on the bike thus far. Feels OK, but I haven't really tested the suspension yet and do plan on getting it set up once I hit the track with it. Will let you know what I came up with but I probably won't know until the fall - busy tracking the 13 R which is set up real good but very little change was needed with that one.

I agree, was very hard initially so I had the damper on the stiff side.

I had mine done at a specialist/authorised Ohlins dealer. Re-valved and re-sprung and surprisingly for me they put the linkage back to progressive, but it's for road and track. Either way it works for me.

I've attached the settings/report for info. It may help?

Thanks i'll give it a shot.

Do you have any idea what weigh the stock springs are set for.

Depending on track the progressive setting will work better . The rule of progressive for street flat for track is not the case at all .

Taking some rebound damping out of the forks made my head shake go away.

Unrelated to op but may be useful to someone.
160lb with 1199s, compliant ride, good feel, head shake gone.
80NM rear shock spring. Fork 20 comp, 16 rebound. Shock 18,18.
