I'm looking to see if there is a forum consensus on a high performance and light weight battery for the 1199. I tried to do a google search on it, as not to flood the forum and rehash threads, but could only find varying opinions on a brand on Ducati MS.

Thanks in advance on a direction...

Shorai

Wonder why no one seems to ever mention ballistic evo2 batteries. Had one on my daytona 675 n those things weigh like 2 lbs and go months without having to start the bike.

Not sure about the battery tender mark but I know you don't need to charge shorai as often or even at all at least that's what I read don't have it yet ...

Shorai charger

do you need a different battery tender if you get a shorai battery

Yes, you need a Shorai-specific charger/tender. Look at my pics on Panigale Picture Thread pg. 71 for a few shots of how I camouflaged the charger. Also, look below for a quick shot.

The Shorai I put in mine weighs half of what the OEM battery weighs. It's "nearly fits" which means you have to switch the (-) cable for the OEM cable plus or minus a zip tie for extra stability. (MOTOWHEELS provides the cable.) Easy switch. Motowheels is good about talking you through the swap.

Don't quote me on this, but if I heard correctly, Motowheels is getting an 1199-specific Shorai battery, one that is the right size for the compartment. So...may not need the above jerry-rigging.

I installed Shoria and works flawlessly. You can use battery tender on it. But not required as they have very minimum 'leakage'.
I swapped to a longer connecting cable during install. Bought it with the cable. Cheapest weight savings on he bike and improved battery performance. Hope it lasts for years.

Dont forget your member discounts on Belli stuff gents! At least 10% on the batteries, and maybe you can catch Lyle or Randy in a festivus mood.

Its just one mod (except for HIDs which I do love) that I never decided to run with. Then again it doesnt make any difference to me at all to show a bike and say it has a lightweight battery now does it? :)

I use alien motion batteries in both my race bike 4 cell and 1199 8 cell. they don not need a tender. but if you feel so inclined they take a tender from them.. is 54 bucks.
