Caught a brief glimpse of a white Pani in an online video carrying Ducati Omaha livery, heading up the mountain for a practice run.

OK, Jarel - spill the beans. Who's it, and more importantly, where's the GoPro video? ;)

Record seems doomed this year if the weather cooperates; full pavement and the likes of Guy Martin going for it on a 320+HP turbo monster bike. Now that's a video I want to see!

Ductai's are looking good on live timing, top 4 are Ducs and 6 of the top 8 are Ducs, Guy Martin is way down the order on his turbo monster machine.

Eric Foutch, he's racing an 1199S that he bought from us. He's never been there before, but said he always wanted to do it, so I helped him out as much as I could. He's been posting videos from practice and qualifying, but they're all on Facebook not YouTube so I can't give a link.

Thanks Jarel - looks like there was another Panigale on the mountain as well; Frenchman Bruno Langlois, who ended up 5th behind Jeremy Toye on a ZX10-R and three Multistradas. So Ducs ran 2-5 in the open bike class, and got a win with Eric Piscione on an 848SF in the middleweights.

A real shame about the rider getting killed after the finish, though. To make it all the way up the mountain and past the line, in 4th place no less, and then lose it.

Holy ...., where did that Honda come from ? At least he didn't go off the cliff when he rolled. That would have sucked more than suck could suck.

NOLA

Some good pics from the event at A&R:

And 5th place Bruno Langlois on his Pani - check out those handlebars!

Looks like 2nd place finisher Lambert Fabrice was on an 1198, not a Multi as I'd thought. At least it has clip-ons... ;)

Those Superbike bars a pretty handy in the tight rough stuff, with an average speed in the low 70's mph that must be a tight road.

Yup, thought that myself. I hadn't realized before this year that the average speeds were so low - the onboard videos make it look Scary Fast .

Thanx guys. Wanted to run under 11:00 and thought I could but without much practice, studying GoPro footage just isn't enough. I shaved 8 sec off the lower section after messing up a few times and it all fell apart after that so I'm just happy to have made it to the top. The mountain is very unforgiving. Next year I will be prepared. Thanx to Ducati omaha, Finishline body and paint, TPL racing, Bridgestone, Dan kyle, spy, GoPro, Suomy, Bellissimoto and motorcycle supply for your support.

Did you run stock gearing? and how much did the altitude hurt your top end performance? And do they tech your fuel? Steve

I ran 14/41 gearing and Bruno had 14/46. I couldn't get any drive out of the tight stuff and I was in 1st! Bike didn't like running at the high altitude, didn't want to start a couple times but I was told to cycle the key. Ran well on race day except for gearing. I ran pump fuel and no they didn't test it but I didn't finish in the top 3 either...
