Planning on mounting some pirelli slicks for the next trackday SC1 front and rear

the question is, if to go with the

new 125 front 200/65

or stay with 120 front 200/60 rear

Any info on this ?

When going from OEM tire heights to a 200/60 slick, I have to lower the front end 2mm. A 200/60 Pirelli slick is shorter that a 200/60 Super Corsa.

I purchased a set of the new profile slicks but have not used them yet. I have spoken to several guys who have and state that they provide a lot more side profile contact patch. I would expect that running the calibration would correct the electronics. This however does not compensate for the change in ride height (although both ends are the same 5mm).

Also after a time you will not be able to get the old profile as Pirelli is not making them anymore (at least in slicks).

As per the Pirelli slicks the 200/65 is only a little bigger than the V3 road tire but a lot bigger that the 200/60 slick. I tried them yesterday and really liked the 125/70 200/65 combo. Loved the front. I had the sc2 front. Apparently the compound on the sc1 and sc2 front are the same just the carcass is Dif.

sounds good

what is the difference between sc1 and sc2?

As mentioned before, the tyres also have different constructions, the SC1 carcass I believe is softer than the SC2. I always thought the compounds were also different.

there is no SC0 front only rear
SCX/SC0/SC1/SC2/SC3 are all the compounds in order of soft to hard - fronts only come in SC1/SC2/SC3
I will be running the new sizes all season, for me there is no reason to run a tire size that is being fazed out.

Hi KarlKani, are you sure the old 200/60 + 120/70 slick set is being phased out? I tend to believe this but what is your source? Thanks.

Yes, this is what my Pirelli tire vendors are telling me. Also this is what happens historically as new sizes are introduced

Thank you. Good info. I'll now plan to use the new sizes as well.

Go with the new sizes 125/70, 200/65. The old sizes may be available for a while even a few more years but thats always how it is. 190/60s were hot and now theyre not. then 200/55 was the new new and no more. then 200/60. and now 200/65. New size offers more ride height, larger contact patch plus im sure some new tech that is unseen. Carcass consruction possibly and maybe new compound formula.

Just an FYI - putting on the 125 front will close the gap to the front fender/tire somewhat. Tire warmers are a little tight going on, though your results may vary depending on brand, etc. I'm referencing on an 1199...

on the chart it has a pirelli diablo supercorsa td tire in size 200/55/60. that has to be a mistake, isnt it a 200/60/17? so much for accuracy lol

There is also a 200/60 TD available, not listed on the chart...but they are available.

do you know if the 200/60/17 td is the same diameter as the 200/60/17 supercorsa sp v3 ?

My Pirelli guys said that the 200/60 V3 SC3 TD (is what they call them) is 670mm tall. The "TD" fronts are also rolling to a V3 any day now.
