Ok... Recently we had a guy trying to sell his S1000... I actually deleted the listing by request... Anyway he took a lot of stick on here for this listing... Now I know you guys meant most of it as good natured banter but how would.you feel about having your listing trashed???

I am not a stickler for rules..well maybe some..:) but please refer to the Guidelines on the classified section and treat people how you would wanna be treated....

Maybe there needs to be away to post an add like on eBay, where the poster controls the thread - only he can post - OP can PM questions, he can post those with answers if he thinks they are helpful. This forum has always been brutal to ads if just a few don't like the price or product. I have seen that anywhere else. :(

The only way to do that would be to lock the thread... and I don't wanna do that...

Very well put STW. I am in total agreement as I have been "victim" to some seriously heated threads myself and know what you mean. Ive had more than just a grain of salt in my time! :)

Stw, I do apologize if I caused you any undue grief. I was just razzing him, but I understand that we need to treat our forum members gently. Again, sorry for the problems it caused you.

Yep, agree with Steve,

Good natured banter is fine, but trashing someone's for sale ad makes it harder for them to sell the item and just generally is a pain. Classified ad replies should be listed to serious questions about the bike, etc.

ALSO, it does not mean a reply should include things like "you're pricing that bike way too high" or "I can buy the exact same bike for $10k less". What the seller values/prices his item at his business and his alone.

I think a smart seller should welcome the comments as bumps for his ad to stay at the top. Buyers know what they want and what to pay although I extend empathy to the seller he just lost a place to display his ad..... I for one didn't say anything on the ad so I'm not making excuses but just being a realist. And as far as that guy they call Steve/stw I just want to say you've been a great help cleaning this place up and you've taking great ownership in making this place a great environment!

Duc can make any thread posted in the Classifieds section un-respondable by anybody other than the OP.

Its just a little permission modification, Im sure he knows how.

not sure we'd want to run an ad like that. This way questions about price, condition etc can be asked/responded to in the thread instead of having to repeat ones self in pms.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you...its not down to me..we are a team...But I am glad that you see that we are always trying to improve/maintain this place....

and touch wood, the spam issue of "watch world war z" free or "get your viagra and cialis here.........." seems to have almost vanished. Spammers still try but they get zapped and banned almost immediately!

I agree ... this place is WAY better now than it was a few short months ago. I was ready to leave for good but so glad I didn't!

Ahhh, kinda like how my old classifieds would be blown up by the usual .........s.
Then again, I'm guilty of doing it once or twice so I'll just stop now :-/

Well put though stw. Classifieds should stick with pm's, and when an item sells the OP updates the original post. I understand system limitations of locking the thread though.

Well I really do not want to make this huge deal...because it really isn't...But just asking members to show some restraint... we all love bikes here and we are all part of a great community... lets just enjoy it... Thanks..

Thank you STW. It's really simple. Just keep it positive. If someone if not following rules politely remind them what rule they are breaking. Most decent forum members will try to adhere to set guidelines. If they perpetually break them, then they deserve what comes.

Some banter is always funny, but it's getting old with some of the trolling going on here....

Thanks... I think this forum has a great member base.... sometimes we just get slightly over zealous with comments... Hence my reminder.:) .But the trolling level here is minimal in general... Makes our job much simpler....
