I want - apparently it's pretty labour intensive - anyone else done this? I spied this in Ducati Glasgow. When visiting home :D

my frinds did it on their 748 and 916... looks sick, as you see a lot of the pipes there... they did the swingarm and the pegs,too... way too much work. but in the long german winters-no problem.

you gotta do a lot of manual sanding, 500, 800, 1000, then polishing with several waxes and buffing...

Not done a Ducati exhaust before, but it used to be "fashion" on dirtbikes a few years ago to do the frame. Not as difficult as you may think provided you have a grinder or drill with a buffing wheel attachement. Polish (brasso or similar) then just get going ;)

Takes a bit of work but not too bad whith a machine.

I would say this, doing it by hand would be a massive task and you'll likely have to remove it to get good result with a grinder or drill. It does look "bling" ! but the bike is already eyecatching IMHO.

IMHO It's also a PIA to keep clean and shiny, but hey I'm lazy so don't let that stop you.

Try Nevr-dull.... That sh!t polishes anything.

as long as the surface is even or chrome already. anything else needs proper preparation with tools...

if you get my system polished with nevr dull only, i pay you a grand in cash.

That looks awesome! :D

I've been doing my fairings with Turtlewax this evening but the exhaust is still pretty dirty. This probably will keep me busy for a few hours :D

Is it just me, or does the section of pipe that is exposed through the right side fairing look really skinny in these pics?

I'm not really a fan of shiny chromeish bits on a Ducati.

I stripped and polished a frame on a street bike once and it was a ...... Maintaining it afterwards was even worse. I would never do that again.

Polished the right hand side of mine and looks exactly the same as the photos. Very quick and easy job with a machine polisher, and very effective. Would have been nice to have done the rest of the exhaust but probably means removing the exhaust which I am not keen on doing.

Not guaranteeing any thing phil, but I polished frame of a '03 cr250 with that stuff to a mirror-like shine....

respect! most of my polishing work needed a lot of preparation, just buffing did't work out. but some already come well prepared from the factory, probably like the cr250.

The dirt bike I mentioned in my earlier post was also a CR250 , perhaps Honda frame/material is particularly suited to it?

Did the frame about 10 years ago, using brasso and a buffer took about 5 hrs total over 2 sessions if I recall, very tiring on the arms. Same as southeastDuc ended up with a mirror like finish, looked chromed.

well it was raining today so i decided to polish

its not that hard took me an 1/2 hr or so to get slips off 1hr to polish
1/2 to refit was not that painfull

might get you to do mine, glad I could be of assistance :D

I think that really looks great! I'll be definitely following this lead. So you only pulled off the silencers? Meaning you polished the pipes on the bike then? Did you follow the sandpaper method or did you just get a standard rubbing compound with a drill/wheel?

...nevermind you answered faster than I could type, lol...

Did the exposed pipe today. Was tired of looking at it.
