So infamous Q/S issues just starting happening on my 2018 V4s, curious on opinions and inputs from HM and Cordona. Both seem to be quality but seems like the HM requires a shift rod where as the cordona does not? What length shift rod would be needed with the HM?

I have the Translogic and it is very good and comes with everything you require.

I have a 21 streetfighter, and my dqs is well has a mind of its own. To be fair i do have it flashed with upmap, me and bill at Cali Moto are the first in the states. It’s a lot better but what is the deal with the Córdona quick shifter, how is it better than the oem one

It uses a strain gauge rather than the stock one that uses a mechanical switch.

I have the HM replacement. Not impressed. It is adjustable for sensitivity, but when I adjust it for good up-shifts then the down-shifts are poor, and vice versa. I’m thinking of putting the OEM unit back onto the bike.

I rode a new V4 and I thought the QS was awesome, clearly theres a reason for upgrading but Im wondering if its mostly done because you can rather than performance?

From what I gather from other's experiances and my own, is that an upgraded QS is more for reliability than performance.

translogic shifter does not use a strain gauge, it uses a switch like the oem shifter. i took my translogic off my bike and replaced it with a cordona which works great but is really sensitive. there was nothing wrong with the performance of the translogic though. i just wanted to try a shifter using a strain gauge

Having tried both, which do you prefer?

I often thing the stock QS would benefit from a stiffer spring in the assembly.

just my Cts:
a load-cell is nearly way-less and has a analog signal, as in a weight scale.
therefore a hard mechanical character like without shift sensor.
a switch type need a way like a spring scale. therefore a softer character.
both will do its job if in good condition.
it would be not fair to compare a broken switch-type sensor with a new load-cell.
so imho, the question should be which character, hard or springy, do one prefer.
(i can't tell, my feets are bricks)
a benefit of the oem-sensor is, you hear it clicking. with a luggage scale you can easy check the shift force to answer the question of a harder spring.
i have read in a manual it should be between 5Kg and 10Kg. in my experience with Duc, bimmer, honda 5 is way to low, 10 is way to high with both sensor types. i found 7-8 the best so far.

i think i like the cordona better. one thing that troubles me about the cordona is i have missed about 5 shifts since i installed it but i also installed gia moto rearsets at the same time so i dont know which is causing me to miss shifts. i have only went for 2 rides since the 2 upgrades. never missed a shift with the translogic shifter. i will most likely sell the translogic unless missed shifts keep happening

Bringing this thread back. I also have the cordona qs.
I’m having shift issues only under hard acceleration from 5th to 6th, I can hear the engine cut power normally but the gear won’t go in. It shift perfect in every other gear. And it shifts “ok” when not under hard acceleration from 5th to 6th. This doesn’t seem like gear position sensor issue and I haven’t had any faults on the dash. Also if the rod length was maybe to short I think I’d see issues in every gear. Anyone else experience this?

Have you swapped the gear position sensor yet?

how is the cordona working for you?

I have had the cordona on my bike for 1yr and about 6000kms. The only issue I have with shifting is when the bike is not fully warmed up, I sometimes miss the 1-2 shift. This is a combination of the oil not being warmed up and me being lazy when cold and not shifting firmly enough. Absolutely no issues attributed to the Cordona itself. I never miss shifts outside of what I just mentioned. Definitely an improvement over stock. However, the biggest improvement in shifting came from the EVO2 software. Night and day difference.

Having recently spent 2 days on a v4s multistrada, the quick shifter programming on that is even smoother than the panigale, and I thought the panigale has been really good.

cordona is still working great. had to adjust my rearsets after the first few rides because i missed some shifts often. had to raise the shifter up and that fixed the problem. cordona is way smoother than stock and an improvement over the translogic too but both are better than the stock one by far in my opinion
