The protector itself is crafted from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) - chosen because as it wears it actually helps to slow a sliding bike. This thing, the mount is like a cradle around the engine, and connected the left and right sides together with steel rod.
I bought one and am impressed with the engineering, being an engineer myself (which mean I also impress myself every now and then).
A lot more solid than the traditional "3 bolts to the clutch cover" protectors.

I agree. We were impressed too with this slider set-up. The Speedymoto rep saw all the small parts required and guessed it would cost about $10K in production run of small parts for them to make something this elaborate.
