Does anybody have experience with RaceSeats' 1199 competition line seat?
My objective is to increase friction between me and the bike. I am hoping that this and some aftermarket pegs will complement my StompGrip tank pads.
RaceSeats Ducati 1199 899 Panigale "Competition Line" Seat

Description on the web site is as follows:

Seat made of a 3mm layer of special high density mousse: it's the same material which is chosen and used by several MOTOGP , Moto2 and SBK teams for the seat of their riders, one of these is the official SBK team Althea (2012).

This special material, which comes from competitions is the best for racing motorbikes. It guarantees a perfect grip and improves the motorbike feeling also in wet conditions. since it isn't subject to usury guarantees less consumption than a traditional seat.

Note: "Competition" seat is created for racing use and is much more resistant than neoprene seats, although this material has a best grip and wear resistance for the best feeling on the motorbike. The "competition" concept is to give the best performance and grip on the track, some little cracks could appear after usage, hot weather condition and sun' ray, that do not compromise the seat usability and quality, so this can not be considered a seat damage and it is not covered from our warrantee.

Got me the OEM 899 seat and am very impressed! Grip, comfort and improved position. Not cheap, but then again, one less night at the pub and it's yours.

I got the Ducati comfort seat for my 1199, it works great, the race seat looks like the same profile

I'm sure it's as good as - or better than - the R seat. The comfort seat, the race seat and the stock seats are decent on the street, but don't offer the kind of grip you need in leathers at the track. The R seat does, but it's a little low if you're 6' and have aftermarket rearsets.

I had the opportunity to go personally to Raceseats laboratory, it's like the motorbike seats paradise...you can ask whatever you want..the seats are really hand made...this is mine

Same, get 899 seat my 1199, ( I try before race, comfy and R seat), this was best solution for me.. Why Ducati didn't make that seat in 1199...

Could someone give me a connection to the company? Last seat looks as though cover may come with different options.

I that a Carbon base I am looking at?

i carry one that was made to measure 2cm higher over the DP raceseat and 2 cm wider..
the only thing i can say it is very well made and its so sticky its perhaps a tad too sticky... :)

plus the service from the shop is very very good. :)

I thought the new 2014 1199s did get the newer seat/fabric as the 899?

That would be my only hesitation. I also have the DP comfort seat and used it for a while last summer but switched back to the stock seat because of seat height. Just could never get comfortable with the height of the DP comfort seat.

Wouldn't mind checking these guys out. But only if they offered a seat the same thickness/height as the stock 2012-13 seat.

Race seat is a little lower where you sit than the comfort but front seems the same height. This puts less weight on your wrist.

Thanks for the input folks. I actually like the standard seat in terms of its profile and padding. The only thing I don't like is the material itself; far too slippery.
RaceSeats make a variety of profiles, emulating the comfort etc. but I think the one I am going to get is their competition seat. And yes; you can order them with a carbon fiber base pan.

To clarify "RaceSeats" refers to the brand and not the profile. That is, not to be confused with Ducati's so called race seat, which (for me) has a horrible profile like the comfort seat, putting one far too high in the saddle.

How tall are you?

its not the person's height that is as critical as its the person's inseam. You have to be comfortable to stand the bike from your crotch. If you like having the balls of feet or toes on ground to feel comfy then you have maximal seat height tolerance. IF you need your heels on the ground and have short inseam, i.e. <32", then any taller seat will throw you off the comfort zone.

One of my sponsors sells these seats over here, and he swears by them. He uses them on their own Pani, and says they are awesome. What else would he say when he sells them. But they have tried different sollutions on their bike until they found these seats, and only started selling them AFTER he tried them himself. So...

Apparently you can order them with your own custom embrodery on them. Name, number, logo... Whatever you want...

I still haven't tried them on ours, so I can't really give you an oppinion yet... We are using the Corse race seat, and I kinda like it so... Haven't felt the need to change it...
