Racing with WERA

So this past weekend I attended a race school with N2td at PittRace. Now that I have my certificate I'm eyeing running with WERA... big question that I have for those who are currently racing with them is around the safety wire procedures... What exactly are they requiring to safety wire aside from drain bolt, oil cap, oil filter...

I have kraaitech installed and have my belly pan drilled to avoid removing it for tech... is that acceptable for them?

Post on the newbie section on the WERA forum. They will answer pretty fast. I know that Mongo has some special allowances for the Panigale due to the way the fluid pan works. I don't think any kind of drilled holes in a pan are going to fly though. Best to ask, or search there, as it's been discussed in detail before.

Thank you sir, I'll make sure to do that. The Kraaitech kit came with a rubber plug for the belly pan so that way it is sealed. Pop it off for tech, then slap it back in there.

That may actually fly. Like I said, Mongo made some special exceptions for the Panigale. I recall that the Kraaitech kit was specifically mentioned in one of the threads about it. I just can't remember the particulars of the conversation.

Yep, I found that thread for Ljuice's bike build, seems like they've OKed the Kraaitech set up. reading over their rule book it's pretty straight word on everything else... I'm kind of tempted to hand it over to the dealer or a local race shop to have them complete all of the safety wiring.

IMO this is the way to go the first time. AF1 racing drilled/wired mine to CMRA spec for $125. It would've taken me three times as long to get everything drilled. It helps to see how everything is supposed to be wired. Now I do it myself and it's not a big deal. It's also peace of mind. Your first race weekend is stressful enough without having to worry about tech.

Yes, those are my thoughts exactly. I got some great info from tack514, who lives down the road from me about all that he did to his Pani for WERA and now I'll be stopping by my buddies shop to see how much he'll charge to get it all done.
