Anyone here running a radar detector and laser hammers on the V4 yet? If so what are you using?

what do you need to know, i have a pretty elaborate radar detector (V1) setup on my panigale and I probably should do a separate thread on it. No jammers yet.

Detector: V1, Max360, SmartRadar (in that order)

Jammers: ALP. Anything else doesn't work or is just CRAP!

How much is a good jammer, and can it be transferred from one bike to another easily? I use a Uniden R1 detector that mounts with rubber-coated magnets to each of my bikes. I have several and a separate system for each would be difficult and expensive.

i agree on the ALP, it's the jammer i am eventually going to go with. unfortunately there just isn't enough speed traps in my AO to justify. i had a max360 and i was embarrassed by it's performance. i looked all over because i got tired of moving the v1 from bike to bike and to car and back. unfortunately nothing is working like the v1.

have you setup v1driver on your iphone or are you using yav1 on the android?

Please do post your setup with pics. I want to install V1 on my new V4 as I have had V1 in my fast cars and it is my favorite by far.

On my Tuono I run TPX motorcycle detector mounted next to the mirror and connected to Radar Screamer. The screamer works really well, but TPX is not as good as V1 , but can be left exposed to the elements.

I want to do V1 with the screamer on the V4, but not sure how..

Max360 used to be very good but once they updated the firmware it lost a lot of performance on the front antenna.

Only reason why I mentioned it is because it has bluetooth (you want to get some sort of notification on your headphones otherwise I believe a radar detector is useless on a motorcycle)

But, you can also buy one of those bluetooth adapters and use it with a way better and long range radar detector such as the original Red Line (best range) or the Uniden R1 or R3 (not sure if they have headphone jack tho)

I agree with ALP, I had it in my car (a Quad system) and it wasn't worth the $1,400 bucks here in Nevada.... only got one alert in almost two years... I am good with the RD and Waze

there is a post from years back for the 1199. with pictures. i did the same thing.

radar jammers can someone educate me on this.

finally v1 i assume thats the valentine 1

youre welcome

It's not radar jammers. Radar cannot be jammed. It is Laser jammers.

Cops use either radar guns or laser guns (LIDAR) . The first is the most common one and that's when you use a Radar Detector which alerts you (depending on wich one you have) about half mile up to a couple miles before the cop sees you.

On the other hand... A laser jammer is perfect for when you are being targeted with a Laser gun. The device is able to avoid having the cop get a reading on your speed. It is recommended tho that once you get the alert, reduce your speed to the indicated speed limit and then "let the cop" read your speed once you are "safe". This is a rule among laser jammer community to avoid cops getting mad about it and passing a law that makes the jammers illegal in your state (it is illegal already in a bunch of them)

There are several brands and models that don't really work but the ALP is the best of the best. Trust me, I had it in my car and went on a private meeting in Cali with other enthusiast and they had every single laser gun available and my system was flawless. They couldn't get a single reading from me

agree, i have a bt adapter for v1 so i can hear the beeping in my sena thanks to v1 driver app. i have the v1 audio routed to a marc parnes visual alert.

Another option is a laser descrambler, if you can afford it. It doesn't flood the lidar, which the lidar gun will detect. It just descrambles the laser long enough to see the cop and slow down. And, it protects you from being lasered from the rear by motorcycle cops, who can "usually" catch you.

never heard of it, not even sure what a "laser descrambler" is...but i'm interested. got a link?

I know a guy in town that runs one on his Ferarri. I'm not sure where he gets it, they're not legal in Texas, but I know it's expensive.
Update: I did a quick Google search that yielded a few results.

The official and accepted names are laser jammers or parking sensors. Many laser jammers get around the legal aspects of jamming by doubling as parking sensors. As stated above, ANti Laser Priority or (ALP) is the undisputed king and has been for the last several years. Prior to that, it was Laser Interceptor.

Anyone who buys a laser jammer these days that isn't an ALP is wasting money. It is the only system which the manufacture consistently updates to keep you protected from variable pulse rate (VPR) lidar guns.

Also, due to me not riding on the street or touring as much anymore, I no longer have any of these countermeasure systems on my bikes. I do however have them in all of my cars. ALP strictly. My current radar detector is the Uniden R3. The only way I'll retire the R3 is if Uniden releases a new radar detector with arrows, which I know they are working on, or if Valentine Research ever releases the new V1.
