I've seen the posts for radar detectors, and they're a few years old. What is the current favorite for radar detectors? I have a 2023 Panigale V4S. Any additional mounting/wiring tips/videos would be great as well. Do I need a switch, or if I wire it into my battery but unplug the detector when I'm not using it, will it still drain the battery?

Cheers.

Its all about the area you're in and the kind of threats you're facing, but get on the radar forum or search Vortex radar on youtube for a model rundown. I use a quadlock mounted to the steering stem, you lose some dash real estate but its a good tradeoff. Most important is getting the sound alerts to your helmet.and having a warning light. For my unit (Uniden R7) sound I use a Sena and BT transmitter (some RD's have built in BT), for the dash light I built a small circuit with LED's that took the data output from the RJ11 lead and turned it into flashes. Pretty sure the escort redline has built in BT and you can power the LED's from the sound jack, you also want an RD with GPS for fixed cams and locking out falses. RD world can be pretty geeky but get one of the top end units with a compact form factor and good connectivity.

On the Pani there is a switched accessory lead under the front fairing, pretty sure I used this to power a small relay with the RD's power coming from the battery.

The guys at Boulder Motorsports gave me a cool mount that allows you to clamp onto a fork tube. The brand is Techmount Accessory Mounting Systems. I am currently using a Valentine 1 Gen2 in the car and I am worried that there isn't enough real-estate to mount up a large detector like the Valentine but maybe best for a Belltronics or Escort Redline.

I have seen the Vortex Radar clip. Cheers for the info.

I've seen that mount. Do you like it? Does it allow the RD to do it's job correctly/thoroughly? Does it leave any marks on the forks? Cheers.

Sometimes I use a plastic bag with an elasticated top, the fairing protects it when youre moving and if its really wet I remove it because youre not going fast anyway.

I haven't tried it on the V4 yet. I will see if I can mount it up, but now the issue is that I don't have the fork tubes high enough in the top triples to get it to attach it:
