Guys my 1199 R is randomly stalling. I started happening maybe 200 miles into riding it. I took it into the dealer and they noticed that the stalling would occur at temps higher than 216 degrees F. They said a few parameters were off and they adjusted the parameters. I do not know what these parameters they were referring to were. Despite, now it's occurring again. Except this time regardless of whether the temp is 116 or 200 it will stall randomly. One time every 3 trips or so. This however is much less of an occurrence when compared to what it was before. Any idea on what could be happening? Sparkplugs, ECU, FUSES? My dealer said to not install the termi's till my first maintenance, but what difference would that make if the ECU is being re-flashed? Any help in regards to this matter would be truly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Not sure why your dealer would tell you that. I had the termis installed before I picked up the bike...no issues
Edit: my dealer recommended the same and suggested to do a dyno run before and after.
I could care less about the numbers and took it as a marketing effort to get more money from me.

Mine did that once after the gas got pretty low... refueled and made it about 200 yards and it stalled out.

After full Termi and upmap no issues, also don't let the gas get too low :)

As EvoL said, many people who have had this problem removed the Charcoal canister and it stopped. Here's a link to AntiHero's guide Link.

As far as not installing the Full Termi's this appears to be dealer dependent. I had mine installed prior to taking delivery and never had the a problem or this stalling issue.

I think that's a ploy from dealers to milk more money out of you...wink wink the Termis need to be installed at first service.

I got a good deal on the system, but they still charged me the install fee... If I had anyone around here that had more mechanical savvy than I do, I would I have done it myself with their help. I was afraid of getting stuck or ....... something up and being so far from the dealer.

I saw how far they had to disassemble the bike to fit the Termis. No need to attempt that process yourself unless you have the time and patience ;)

Thanks a lot guys for the information.

I take it removing the carbon canister will void the mfg. warranty?

With my experience with Ducati Superbikes, it will almost always stall in stop and go traffic situation but is very rewarding in the track and at freeways. No matter what I do, it stalls all the time. my dealer blames my clutch technique though:D

No stalling problems on my "S"...idles fine no matter how hot temps are....
Heat from the rear exhaust header loop is my one and only complaint with this Pani. Had a 916 in '97 and 748 in '98...never did they have stalling problems except for burnt regulators, oil leaks, fuel pump issues, electrical problems and cam belts snapping issues...long before a Ducati Distributor (Ducati Manila- Access Plus) was introduced here. Sold all my old ducs and purchased a brand new 1999 R1...never owned ducatis since...

Till now...purchased this 1199 "S" Brand new last May 2012...no major issues...has 8,200kms so far...
Been going on trackdays, Racing it in the Ducati Cup and been riding out of town on Sundays...no major issues... so far!!!

are you guys with the "R" stalling more from a stop or is it while moving?

Is the lighter flywheel causing any issues in traffic?

I haven't had any stalling problems on my R. I'm at 815 miles.

The dealer installed the full system before delivery.

As far as clutch technique--I ride it more like my 1972 Yamaha R5 (350cc twin) than my GT1000. :D

I had one stall coming to a stop with clutch pull pulled in. started it up, went about 10 ft, then stalled again with clutch in. not a stall since then. still not sure what caused it, revs where higher than idle since I was engine braking coming in prior to pull ing.

-- don't sweat it too much - i have spoken with more than 1 R owner, and we seem to all experience the same stall issue, now and then - just a heads-up, be a tad more careful with U-turns

It's not an R issue. It's a Panigale issue that's been discussed over and over for the last 18 months.
