Wondering if it's normal that the rear break fluid on my bike (1299) has gone from a honey colour to purple and now black? The bike has 600 km on it now and is 5 weeks old, I have a KTM Duke R with the same break master cylinder and it went from a light honey colour to purple, it's 8 months old and has done 2600km. It never went black? I appreciate the resovoir on both bikes gets hot from the engine, I don't ride the rear breaks, is this normal or is it something going wrong like seals devolving ? The resovours are very small compared to the front breaks, any one else having this?

The stock brake fluid isn't the greatest. I had the exact same issue on the front and the rear.. Changed to Castrol SRF. And have had zero issues and it's still light honey colored after 9,000 miles on my 1299S.

Swap out with Motul and the discoloration wont occur for thousands more miles.

Thanks for the response I do like Motul products can you recommend the correct grade that will not damage the seals.
And on a different lube would you run say a Motul 7 series instead of the the Shell ? Motul is easily available here so I would like to change.

On my 2rd Panigale and the only time I saw clear fluid was when riding off after having changed it. Pitch black is what I saw most of the time.

Yep. They are doing the dyno tune for race fuel and flushing/changing the brake fluid as we speak in preparations for the season opener next month.

Oh.... And my clutch fluid also went black, with the stock fluid.. Now it's fine....
