Rear Caliper Rebuild

Good Afternoon,

So I ran into an issue where my rear caliper seized at the race track when I came into the pits.

At slow speed they grabbed, and I just gassed through it not realizing it... When I came to a complete stop they seized and smoked and then after a minute or so or really bad smoke, unlocked... The seals are clearly toast (due to testing afterwards where touching the pedal shoots fluid out).

Where can I get a seal rebuild kit for these? Are they even available?

My searches online have led to nothing... but in all fairness, my Google-Fu is not up to par.

Any information that could be provided would be greatly apprecaited.

Just get another caliper off ebay. You can find one for like $80...

That was what I had figured would be the route. Wanted to see if rebuild was available due to budget. Apparently it is a REALLY bad idea to break your motorcycle just after you dropped all your available funds on a house.

This must be what "house poor" means, haha.

I had mine seize also when my pads were down to the steel. they got stuck in between caliper and disc.

i should prolly rebuild mine and get a new disc.

but who the EFF uses the rear brake on a twin anyway :D ?

Good question, as I don't use mine at all. Not even sure how to operate it...

I have my bike set up at EBC 3 so that she runs into a corner like a two stroke and I still do not use my rear brake. The pads and disk are still perfect. :D
