Rear Set's

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some rear sets for my track bike. Whilst i'm gravitating towards the Ducati Performance ones, are there any other brands that I should consider?

Thanks
Al

I just bought some Gilles adjustable footpegs just for more grip. When I first got the bike I bought some LSL pegs which had better grip. I ended up with the Gillies as they allowed some adjustment of the peg position. In the end I took out the adjustment piece and run them in the std position. The first model 1199 had really slippery pegs. I know it is fixed for the 1299. For me the standard rearsets are fine. When someone makes some rearsets in Ti, then I will buy them to reduce weight. I do like the DP, ones but it would only be bling for me.

Another vote for the Lightechs. You won't find another rearset for the Panigale with as much adjustability.

That being said, my Attack Performace rearsets on my 675R are still better for about $300 less. I wish they made them for the 1299, so I contacted the owner. They have no plans to make them for the 1199/1299 unfortunately.

Anybody use the AEM rearsets? I'm picking those up with the levers in a couple of weeks, would like to know if anyone has had experience with the rear sets.

I have ran Driven, Woodcraft, Vortex, Gilles, and a couple of knock off brand rearsets over the years. I have Gilles on the R1, because of the easy adjustments of them, with one bolt adjust for track, higher and back, and for a bit more comfort on the street bring them down. The biggest issue has been mentioned, and that's replacement parts. Damaged the brake side is a parking lot crash during the total control riding clinic doing 2nd gear circles, where I had my knee on the ground and the back end washed out, so slow and controlled, I had time to kill the bike with the kill switch and turn off the key as I was sliding. It damaged the footpeg and bent the brake arm, put a small scratch in the lower, about he size of a pinky nail, and scuffed the frame slider. Took about 2 weeks to get the replacement parts, but they are available, just not like Woodcraft, where almost all parts an interchangeable, and if someone at the track has a spare, you can usually swap it over.

If I was racing or spending more time on the track, Woodcraft all the way. If you want some adjustments just for more clearance, any will work, just look at how easy (and cheap) replacement parts are going to be. For the Woodcraft I had on my GSXR750, I had a spare foot peg, spare toe peg, and spare arm. Although I hammered out the brake lever arm three times, so I didn't really need it. :)

But to me in terms of looks and adjustments, I have loved my Gilles rearsets.

I narrowed it down to three choices before I purchased mine:

Lightech
Woodcraft
CNC Racing

I didn't get woodcraft because of the aforementioned lack of forward adjust (although I wanted to, they seem like great guys), and I don't remember why I didn't get the Lightech. They seem pretty great.

I purchased the CNC racing (Ducati*1199 Panigale,1199 Panigale R,1199 Panigale S,899, 1299 Panigale, 1299 Panigale S) and really love them. They have the most adjustability that I found (other than the Lightech), are pretty nice looking, reverse/normal shifting, have a mounting point for brake light switch, and are very grippy.

My only downside is the pegs are almost too grippy and sometimes if you don't land your foot in a nice position you have to lift to readjust. That may be a feature for some people. The reverse shift setup is very, very easy with these, and you can run standard/reverse without any additional parts.

Trying Bonamici's over Woodcraft for added adjustability. Got extra parts (toe, lever and pegs) for spares. Similar pricing.

Giamoto

Just fitted another pair of GIAMOTOs to my 1299 Panigale. I had them in England on my 1199. They are machined to a fantastic quality and the range of peg adjustments should suit any rider AND the best bit, they have the Italian style that suits a Duke!
