I'm just thinking out loud here and this may be a very stupid Monday musing (thread isn't about DIY instruction btw).
But the V4 has an exhaust pipe 'open' to the rear tire, which made me think at least all that heat is being used to keep the rear tire warm instead of just melting the plastic fender as it does on the 1299 (mine is quite textured from regularly melting and cooling). So my thought is, could we just forego the rear fender completely?
Assuming fair weather riding only, is there a functional aspect of the rear fender that would be sorely missed? Also not sure how it would effect the esthetic of the bike. But I'm curious to hear more knowledgable opinions. Cheers.
