I switched to the Termi D170 system at the beginning of last season due to
noise limitations at tracks here in Sweden. I ran all of 2017 without major issues.
This year has been a different story with several days of repeated black flags
at one circuit and a major overall noise clampdown at another.

Before I decide whether to either change the system again, bodge other cans
to fit, or just get rid of the pani completely, I want to repack the cans.

Has anyone with the D170 set up opened up the cans before? If so, which end
allows easiest dissassembly? Would rather not completely dismantle if not required.
Also, what size rivets (diameter and length) are best suited for boxing up, so
that I can have them on hand to do the job quickly and not wait for parts with cans in bits?

I have no knowledge about the D170 system but a small hint that I can give if you decide to repack your silencers is to test Acousta-Fil. I used that to repack my austing racing silencer on my RSV4 with great result. I did not have that bike too long after repacking can so I can’t say how long it will last but it did reduce the noise level drastically. Just be careful not too pack too thight as it expands a lot! I will definitely test that again when it is time to repack my underbelly termignoni cans.
