After just over 2,000 miles the rear is now shot and in need of replacing. As I won't be tracking it and tend to ride in a variety of conditions I'd prefer something that heats quicker and has some wet weather ability. Previously I've used Pirelli Corsa Rosso's or Corsa III's only they don't make them with a 200 section rear.

Any suggestions?

I REALLY like the Michelin Power Pure and Power One tires. I usually get an V front and B or C rear compound. These Perelli's feel dead to me, not a lot of feedback or confidence in them compared to the Michelins. I plan to use these when I need some rubber. I have Dunlop race slicks on my RC8R from the factory and Dunlops are garbage. My favorite thing about the Michelins is the profile. They are the most "peaked" tires and just lay down into the turns, I LOVE it.

Here's a review of the Ones:

^^^ Agreed on the Michelins. I've always replaced my oem tires with Michelins because of the comfortable feel they give me. Simply put I trust them and they stick. These Pirelli's seem hard to me. Wasn't a big fan of the Pirellis on my 848 EVO either.

Michelin makes both of those tires in a 200/55 as well. I would get the Set with a VB front and a C rear for the road. Next month I'm likely to get exactly that.

Some of the best prices I've found:

THe only 200s I can find in a pure are 200/50 (same tire as rsv4 factory).

The only street 200 size tires I've found are the 200/50.

And road 3s only in 190 (that's a sport touring tire? I've got them on my streetfighter) they do last forever tho.

Um.... Michelin. Road 3's AND Pures.

Ok, let me look at this. I apologize.

At a quick glance, looks like you're right. I've used the One's on the street and it was just fine.

200/50 = 100mm sidewall
190/55 = 104.5mm sidewall
200/55 = 110mm sidewall

The only street 200/55 sport tire I've found is the Pirelli Supercorsa.

If anyone is thinking of using a different tire, I would look at what is available in 190/55 sizes and I would also look closely at what the actually tire size is as opposed to just the specified tire size. While specified as the same size, many tires are dimensionally different. In my experience Dunlops tend to be larger in the same specified size than other brands.

no worries on that!

I do hope some other manufacturers get some options for the street soon, as I've never had good longevity out of the pirellis and since I do lots of street riding I'd like something to last a little longer.

I've got my own tire changer so at least I can save a few $$$!

I wish Dunlop would make a 200 rear in the Q2 type- great tire!

Dunlop makes the Q2 in 200/50-17 size. Bridgestone also makes their new S20 in the same size. The sizes will slow the steering of the 1199 since the dimensions mean the profile will be flatter than the 200/55. The 190/55 size is likely to present an equal or potentially more aggressive profile than the 200/55 and is probably a better alternative choice.

Thanks for the replies. I've used Michelin Power Pure before, have to say I'll never fit them again! Light weight and long lasting but I couldn't get any heat into them on colder days and found them awful in the rain. In fairness I'm not sure what compound they were.

By the looks of it I'll probably end up with another Supercorsa until more options become available.
