so i was up close and personal with the rs10 bridgestone last monday at the track. they are the stock tires on the new r1 and would fit the panigale. i did not ride them but i asked a boat load of questions to the guys with the r1.

from what i was told there is no real fall off. they keep their grip the whole time.

the problem they don't last at all. the guy who had the r1 in the intermediate group had them 2 track days. and by the middle of the 3rd day he needed new tires.

is this normal that fast? the q3 lasts way longer. i hear the metzler m7rr lasts long.

do you sacrifice the longevity for the performance?

Tread life on these is awful I have maybe 800 on mine and they are almost done (rear)

Steve you bought the new R1???

Mark I'll let you know how well the M7RR's do on Monday after my track weekend.

i still think the q3 is the king of the sport tire waiting for mikes assessment of the metzler

I'm sure results will vary depending on riding style and suspension setup but hearing it firsthand from Stw that 800 and done would make me run away and try a different brand.

The price was good and certainly cheaper than the Pirelli's.

However, with wear shabby I guess its back to the drawing board cost wise.

I didn't like how the Q3's fell off in the TC portion even though they were solid tires. I Also felt the Q3's were too stiff and very flat in the center which gave good traction, but the diameter of the tire is too small.

Suppose I have to save my money for the Supercorse tires this coming spring. Having a soft tire in winter isn't too bad I guess.

the q3 diameter is smaller and does set off the traction you would have to adjust your setting for tc. i guess i am biased towards the q3 because i use it on my track bike which is a 600 and its fantastic.

the 1199 i ride in the street so the q3 has no problems there i never used it on the track with the 1199 or the hp4.

i was excited about the rs10 but a track day is about 100 miles a day by the end of the third day the kid on the r1 needed new ones thats 300 miles. totally unacceptable.

here is a review of the metzler which has the same dimensions as the pirelli.

My RS10 lastest ONE track day (64 laps). Well it could've gotten a couple more sessions in but it was down to the wear bars, if not damn near a slick on one side. The grip got messy after 20+ mins out there. The DTC helped to keep it in check though. Never had any "oh ...." moments. The only reason I bought another rear is because the front had too much life left in it (front felt great the whole day).

As soon as the front's done I'm switching to Q3s. I won't by Bridgestones ever again. Even on my old '09 R6 dedicated track bike 'stones never lasted long and lost rear grip towards the end of the day. Nothing significant and it was manageable, but I've never experienced a tire losing grip as much as I have with Bridgestones. I always got the RS version to save $$.
