Description:
Customer notes he is losing acceleration in all gears. Started happening after about a month prior to the bike coming in. He has not ridden the bike a tremendous amount. Difficult to reproduce.
"Acceleration would hesitate around 5K rpms and has shut off in the middle of the highway with a CEL and it prohibits any further
acceleration until cycling the engine and key. Then everything works as expected."
Resolution:
Connect to bike with DDS and pull codes. A non active fault was present for the vertical cylinder TPS with a recording at 5K RPM's @ 75
MPH. When checking parameters the battery voltage was wandering heavily. Battery load tested ok at 70%. Reset APS, TPS, and adaptation. Run up to temperature and recheck parameters.
Recommend:
Vertical cylinder has an exhaust leak at start up and tapers as it warms up.
So the dealer tightened up the exhaust leak and I’m still having the issue, any recommendations on where to begin to solve this problem? I have a rapid bike evo installed with no issues for years and contacted them as well. Was told their parameters don’t touch throttle position sensors so it’s gotta be a bike issue still.
Throttle bodies? New sensor? New battery?(original 2014 still in installed)
