I just got done installing the full akrapovic system on my 1299S. I noticed that in the paper manual that came with the exhaust it says to unbolt the subframe and lift it to get at the rear header and heat shield. The PDF manual I downloaded for the 1199 does not mention doing this.
I spent two hours yesterday removing the stock cans and that's how far I've gotten. Seems like some details are not exactly laid out but I think so far so good(for example, removing the rear hanger bolt on the left side requires removing the heel guard holder to access).

Finally removed the stock system. The exhaust shield was a pain! Removed the charcoal canister while I was in the area. Well it's more because I wanted better access to the front header bolts. Took 4 hours so far. Hopefully installation of the new exhaust takes less. :x

No PDF for the 1299 install that I have found. Still though the one on the 1199 is nice to have as its in color and can be magnified. I had the paper book for the 1299 and pdf for the 1199 on my ipad during the install.
I was able to follow the instructions to the letter, when a task seemed impossible I went out and bought a tool that made it possible!
