I am looking at buying a Garmin 660 unit and would like to know if anyone has one of these fitted to their 1199? I will be doing regular trips to Germany and Holland with an occasional trip to Italy and maybe also Ibiza so the maps offered with this unit are ideal for me I just wondered how it fitted with the mounting bracket and how it looked being such a big unit?

I have a 660 but have not fitted it yet. The size is an issue in my mind, it will fit but looks too clumsy and obvious. I am now thinking of a 350 which is slightly smaller and a better fit.

I did discover a temp fix on Friday when I had to go to an unknown address in Coventry. My Garmin 800 fits over the yoke using the cycle mount and bands. For me, it was superb. A 10 hr battery life means no hard wiring. It is small, very discreet, fits in a pocket and is not obvious when on the bike. Yes, a small screen but very clear. No Bluetooth though so one needs to look down every so often to check for turnings.

I'm using the SW-Motech Engage Sport tank bag with the GPS mount option right now. It holds the 660 out of the line of sight of the gauges and in an easy to operate position. Before this, I just stuck it in the clear pocket of the Ducati Accessory tank bag. For power I have a cable which plugs into my Battery Tender charging tail.

I prefer tank bags GPS mounts over fixed mounts, since they allow me to move the GPS unit between bikes without having to have a mount on every bike and they make it easy to grab everything of value off the bike when necessary.

Can someone help me get a mount and GPS, I have no clue what I am looking for.

Can someone post a pic of their sat Nav and mount, dont fancy a tank bag need to get one sortedthanks

i have the zumo 220 and if you can find it on ebay you will save yourself 50 percent. its the same thing but its an inch smaller. the ram mount ball is 20 bucks slides easily into the center of the triple clamp with a butterfly bolt. (forgot what the bolt is really called) garmin canceled the 220 so it can charge double the amount for the 600

Don't do anything with amazon with regard to GPS. they are incompetent morons. Last month I spent $775 on a Garmin 665LM (The 660 is now outdated as well). Well two days later my box came. It was a 665 box, with 665 paperwork, but with a Nuvi model 765 gps unit and its accessories thrown in the box ($40 old GPS).....

Amazon.com: Techmount Euro Mount (Fork Tube) - 53mm - Black 4-70053B: Everything Else

That is what you want to mount anything. Make sure to order the correct size (53mm for S model).

Edit: If you're looking for a GPS for the bike, purchase the mount I noted above, and lookup the Garmin 390LM model. Its the newest one out. Use 3M DualLock velcro to hold gps to the mount.

This one just fits non-base forks right? The base has a different diameter.

Other sizes and cheaper ($48) here:

I've got a 665lm fitted on to my 1199. I hardwired using the garmin mount and silver fork tech mount. Cleanest install I've seen so far. I'll forward you some photos tonight.
