Usually run SP’s but got a new 200/60 fitted today and got home and putting it on discovered it was an sc1. Called the shop and they said it would be fine for street. Anyone comment from those with street experience on what I might expect especially when cold.
Thanks

you will get a very small border between Grip / zeroGrip and no warning between, i would say.
no street experience but used on track without warmers.(stands forgotten)
was ok/'save' at ~80°F+.
so...what means street and what means cold?
in Europe they are illegal on street. for a reason.

If you manage not to destroy your bike you will also find out that these race tires will last 800 miles, if you are lucky.
The SC1 is a soft race compound all around, the SP has a harder center tire meant to last longer than the race compounds.

Thanks forum, very glad I took the loose wheel in rather than rode. The guy literally said we sell heaps of them you will be fine, I would only have considered sc’s for track with warmers but I thought maybe he knows something that I dont.

I always tripped when a guy wrecks early on a street putt and blames it on the tire model or brand

They all suck cold and if the sun just set there is often moisture on the ground

Sometimes moisture on tire too!

*my dumb ... had to do it a second time before I learned the lesson lol

Smoked!

I know this post is a few months old , but wanted to throw in my 2 cents in case anyone in the future reads it.

I would say most race compound tires I would not want to ride on the street. Some are hard as a rock unless fresh off the warmers. However the Pirelli SC1 compounds actually work surprisingly well on the front and rear on the street.

Although I wouldn't purchase them specifically for the street. I had some on my 1299 Panigale for track days and tried them on the street and I actually think they hook up better than SP's on the street. I have ridden them down to about 50 degrees / (10c). Of course I am not hitting full lean angle at those temperatures. In the summer I have full confidence. If this is just a weekend canyon bike it will be fine especially if you are only riding in warmer climates.

I wouldn't use it on a daily commuter. I imagine they suck in the wet, but the SP's do too.

Tire life isn't as bad as I thought it would be, if you're going on long straight highways I would again avoid them as well as SP's ( get Rosso corsa 2's instead).

If you're riding mostly twisty roads in warm temps I would say they would be just fine.

Thanks, I might try them if the price is right. Its winter now so will leave it but here is an SP after a good road thrashing. Basically its cooked due to spinning up and careless throttle. I have finally worked out that you can shred any tire if you are careless on the throttle regardless of temp/pressure etc.
