DUCATI PANIGALE EXHAUST SC-PROJECT

I still REALLY like the look and sound of these exhausts. I spent 7 months waiting for them to bring one out for the 1299 but gave up hope as they don't seem to be interested at all.

I'm wondering, after seeing something on an 1199 listing for a different exhaust, they mentioned they can supply an adapter to convert it to 1299 (can't remember where I saw that).

It got me thinking, how hard do you think it would be to adapt the 1199 SC Project exhaust to fit the 1299? I don't know anything about this type of thing and I have spoken to a couple local exhaust places but none have any idea?

I would guess not that hard. the exhaust is not integrated with the body panels, so I doubt there would be huge clearance issues. Given both the 1199 and 1299 are essentially the same base, you may need to swap some 1199 parts here and there, but they should all bolt on.

Not knowing anything going in you just need to know that it may be a simple bolt on as other full systems swap easily between both bikes or you might have to source and swap parts which may prove to be a headache. I guess the question to ask yourself is can you do the work, how much headache are you willing to endure and is this specific exhaust worth all that to you?

I'm completely clueless with mechanical jobs, not practical at all, I'm a tech guy and I'd need to pay someone to do it for me. There are several well known exhaust makers within a 15 mile radius of me.

Pipewerx / Quill / MTC

What I don't know is, how different is the standard 1199 exhaust to the standard 1299 exhaust in the way it attaches to the bike? Surely the SC Project exhaust made for the 1199 is not THAT far off the 1299 and with a skilled exhaust company like the above, could adapt the way it connects with not much effort, as the 1199 and 1299 are very similar?

Cylinder head connections are identical. Routing for the most part should be identical. Hanger locations should be similar if not identical. Issues are going to be clearance with bodywork, which it doesn't look like that'll be a major issue, or the right side rearsets which may be a bit different than the 1199.

Any custom type job is going to cost more to do. So bear that in mind in your decision.

The issue is the header to silencer fit. The connector is different. You can't put a 1199 slip-on on a 1299. It's full system or nothing.

Finally somebody else that likes the SC projects slip on... and he is even getting some useful advice and not just a lot of derisive laughter... Must be my aftershave then....

I have one of Phl's exhausts on currently and as much as I like it over the standard, it doesn't have that same roar as the SCP slip on. I heard on in person for the first time a couple weeks back and it sounded incredible.

I also do like the design of it, I know it's not to most people's tastes but then again, they aren't riding my bike :D

Here's a couple of photos of the SCP on an 1199...

What do you think? The mounting brackets would be wrong for a 1299? Surely if it was quite straight forward, SCP would have just made a simple adaption for the 1299?

hack off the flange, weld on a V-band. If you are close to a exhaust workshop, they should be able to put on a V-band for you.

I always liked this exhaust …. congrats on making the decision to peruse this venture… Please keep us updated on how it turns out…

Forgive my mechanical ineptitude but what is a flange? (I'm a techie not very good with practical things).

What about the bracket mounts? They look like they would be totally wrong. The bottom photo is of my standard exhausts that were taken off when I put Phl's cored cans on. They would be carved up if needed, brackets taken off, etc.

Quick update.

SC Project themselves have said, and I quote:

25th July...
Hello, the exhaust for 1299 (S1 version) is ready, we have only the conclude the test, in the beginning of august

I’m sorry for the delay, the exhaust will be available in the next 15 days

I'm not holding my breath as I started talking to them almost 1 year ago about this exhaust but we'll see.

In the meantime, listen to this:-

I may or may not have a solution soon.

Nice!

If SCP aren't lying again, which they have told me it's ready once before and would be on the website within "2 weeks", which was 6 months ago, may not need a solution.

I'm in no rush and I will also have a set of Phl's cored cans for sale in the UK too. Like I say, nothing wrong with them, just wanted an SCP from day 1.
