SC Project exhaust now out for the ducati 899

Assuming 19% VAT, this is the cheapest exhaust option for the 899

920 Euro "Selling Price" with VAT = 773 Euro w/o VAT = $990 USD.

Might still do Phl's OEM slip-on mod as I like the sound better than my Termi slips, but the SC-Project slip-on without Ti screen is the same price as above. The Ti screen only adds $75 for a total 1199 Ti Slip-on Price of $1,056. Less than half what Termi charges and likely half the weight based on pictures - but probably twice as loud too!

Likely my ignorance... but don't the 899 and 1199 share the same exhaust?

I guess I'm not sure why anyone would spend more than about $20 modding an 899. Even for $1000 I'd just spend the extra money for an 1199.

I will be happy to take a stab at that... after tomorrow, I will have spent a little over what a base 1199 would cost OTD.

I will have Termis, Rizoma rearsets, a Yoyodyne slipper clutch, CRG levers, Rizoma reservoirs, DP fuel cap, Shorai battery, sliders, and a 'R' pillion cover with matching decals all installed by the dealer. All of this and I think I do a decent job of keeping up with liter bikes on twisties or the equivalent of a short track where you can't really begin to make use of the top end HP of the 1199.

I was originally in the market for the 1199R, but after riding the 899, it seemed to suit my purpose. The current US margin on the 899 makes the bike an absolute deal.

Don't get me wrong, of course. The 1199 is an awesome bike, but I just didn't need that amount of power... yet.

Edit: what I don't understand is the 1199 vs. 899 issue... they are both great bikes made by Ducati.

Agreed. I have to admit though when I got the mailer announcing the 899, the same thoughts ran through my head initially. But having ridden one, its a different tool for a different purpose. When you want to drive a nail, you don't always need to reach for the sledgehammer.

its a dick swinging contest for most.....they gotta be able to say they have the biggest ,baddest bike. i would bet ( a ton of money) that 90% of 1199 owners cant push a 899 to its limits let alone something like a R

why do people own and drive fancy cars? i think theyd be much better off in a Kia or maybe a Daewoo... until you can push a Daewoo to its limits anything faster should be off limits, ESPECIALLY IF IT LOOKS BETTER... because its just not fair to the rest of us

also your 90% figure is a bit low id say 99% of us cant push an 899 to its limits....luckily for us 99% of 899 owners cant push my girlfriends old ninja 250 to its limits so...yea

I wonder what the left hand side looks like, all the gallery pics are from the right "good" side.Oh yeah I don't do the big dick swinging thing, I'm on my 125 scooter today, my cock is big enough thanks.....lol

Sorry I have not looked at this thread in a while. My comment was misunderstood by some. The 899 is a fine bike. And at it's base price I get it. My point was simply that if you start getting the price closer to the 1199 I think it makes more sense to buy the 1199. There is no "dick swinging" in that comment, just my opinion of where the value lies.

BTW, I have held the throttle wide open from the speed the front wheel stays down until well into triple speeds many times. So yes, I really do make use of the 1199s additional power.

^agreed ! all i was saying is that people buy what they want for ego or maybe they just like the better trim level or what ever reason. my point is i just dont understand the arrogance / hate towards the 899? when most guys cant cant handle it. but as i just said they buy a 1199 because they want to(not because they need it) its that simple just like some people (myself included ) buy a 899 for our reasons

as for value would buy a RSV4 Factory before a R
its just as good and has all the fancy options but cost $10k less
