For Sale Scammers list

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Thanks Sir Jag, another timely reminder- be very way of posters with a low count who only uses the classifieds, especially ones with ........ stories as to why they are selling

This list is here for a reason,
DO NOT BUY FROM THAT PERSON!!!
To protect yourself from scammers ask person who is offering to sell you part on this forum to send you picture of their forum name written on piece of paper next to the part in question!
If they can’t provide that walk away.
How does this create some level of protection? Sorry if stupid question, but new to forum. Thanks.

Many scammers steal pictures from other sites or eBay. Then they use the photos to create fraudulent ads for items they don’t have possession of.

By writing one’s screen name on a piece of paper with the date and placing it next to the item to be sold, it helps to mitigate this particular type of scam.

Thank you for the reply. That actually makes a lot of sense.

But even that can be photoshopped, ultimately its a number of factors including length of time and number of posts, whether the member is active and interacting. Generally if it's a big ticket item then paypal goods and services, what you're paying for is insurance. Dont be cheap then complain!

Anyone who turns up 5 minutes ago, is only on the classifieds and has a good deal is probably a scammer. Some of the smarter ones might work on a profile for a while and even ask quite high prices but generally if you ask enough questions they fold. The obvious ones come from non western countries, but the real aszholes are locals who know what to say and are part of the Ducati community like that dude from NY who burned half the forum a few years ago

Please bann scammer, toss123
I see his previous scame user brain121 was already banned

Another scammer selling a Pierobon lightweight aluminum single seat rear subframe 1098/1198
absolute ........ only does PayPal family friends makes excuses, wants more money. a total fraud

Add @marcsherry and @redoldman12 to the list of scammers or at the very least compromised accounts. Although one was created today and the other created less than a month ago. Both sending PMs and posts to email someone who supposedly has parts that match my want to buy post.

I'm not sure if this helps anyone but I was recently scammed. Not by a known member of this forum or even on this forum. But motorcycle related.
I purchased a motorcycle trailer from a website (partgarages.com). I first asked a few questions about the trailer to which I got a reply answering my questions. I made the payment, received email confirmation and shipping information. A few days later received tracking number. But the delivery date came and went and there was radio silence.
I am working now to recover my funds. I did some digging and found the website received very poor reviews. Just short of confirming it's a total scam. My bank has also had no luck with communication with the vendor. Obvious to me now...99.986% total scam.

Sorry to hear that, con men are called that for a reason and they are very skilled at gaining your trust. You can only do do much, but by using reputable financial services, insurance etc you can mitigate it to a degree but its always a hassle. If it sounds to good to be true still applies but the smarter ones make their deals just competitive enough to suck you in. Reputations online are only part of the story because accounts can be hacked. B
