So, after a nasty accident that requires the replacement of the triple-tree, I'm looking for advice on how to best support the machine while I do the work.
I do not have access to an overhead tether or anything like that; rather, I have to support the bike from underneath.
Does anybody know if the magnesium sump is robust enough to support the bike (e.g. on blocks) while this work is performed?
I will have the rear wheel in the grip of a Hardy lift and the bike tied down to stabilize it.
Thanks for your consideration.

I would buy a Bursig stand for that.
I agree; that's the best long-term solution.
I'm looking for guidance on an interim measure so that I can do the work this weekend.
My thoughts are to avoid contact with the magnesium sump and use a jack and some wood to try and support the bike at a couple of points on the aluminum engine block.
To bad I didn't order my IMA Special Parts triple clamp in advance of completing an oil change and cleaning of the sump's mesh filter. :-(

jack stands under the starter motor is what i do. you can place them wherever it looks the most secure to you. still leave the rear stand in and go to town

I ended up taking the silencers off and rotating the bracket (that secures them to the engine) forward. I then put blocks of wood under the bracket, which is bolted to the aluminum engine case. Rear wheel is secured in the lift's wheel chock and and the subframe straped to the lift under tension of the rear shock.
I'm going to try and get a Bursig stand for the first track weekend, since many of the bolts will need to be checked/re-torqued during the first lunch break.
Cheers to those who offered guidance.

Wow that radiator is quite the piece of kit!

Glad you figured something out to get you by. You won't regret the purchase on the Bursig stand.
