Nice system. Good on you for having a go yourself. Really does not matter how long it took you, think of the money you saved not taking it to the dealer. And you have learned more about your bike. :)

Did mine over a long weekend... it's a PITA job, as you really should disconnect the rad upper brackets to swing the lower cooler out of harms way... but I didn't and struggled through..

great job, by far the hardest exhaust install ive ever done when I removed the stock pipes to have wideband bungs welded in them

getting ready to install the akro, cant wait, I bet it sounds glorious!!!

Hey guys. As someone who has had a few of these things completely apart many, many times, its best to understand that these things are the result some contortionist wet dream. The bike is truly a masterpiece in many ways and a nightmare in others. It is a coordinated jigsaw puzzle with little regard to those who work on them. I found that its just best to dismantle the damn thing rather than trying to shortcut things. The guys who designed them have little regard for the "next guy" in the chain. This is why even dealer maintenance is not so hot. I have seen countless radiators destroyed by eager exhaust mechanics because they tried to play with the puzzle out of sequence. Every time I tear something down I try and engineer something that will make it easier next time. It gets better.

I found that assembling exhaust systems get much easier if you apply a good assembly paste. I use this outstanding high-tech product: Anti-Seize High-Tech | Coating and Protecting | Oil and Gas | Application Areas | WEICON Germany

Just apply a really very thin film on the connecting surfaces of the exhaust tubes, and you can play around without any effort with the whole system until it fits.

This stuff works great too. I use it on all the ti hardware and exhaust joints.

Haha sorry this Tapatalk app doesn't resize and my phone camera is a bit overkill. It's normal size on my phone but imagine it's huge on a computer screen.

Are you saying it took you 4 days to install the system?

I took my time over a period of a month. Whenever it got too much I had to walk away.

5 minutes into my maiden ride, there's no doubt it was worth it. Now I need a tune.
