Last couple of times I have had issues with shifting. Last time I rode the shift lever would get stuck down and not return. I took the shift linkage apart to make sure it wasn't hanging up, but couldn't find anything wrong. Now when I ride I am having a hard time getting the bike into first or second while down shifting. As I approach a light I work my way down the gears (3-2-1 etc) but after third I can shift and the bike won't. I'll hit third or second and shift the lever to the stop and it won't shift. Occasionally I will hit first and there is a lot of movement in the lever as if you are in a different gear, rather than the hard stop you normally feel when in first. The problem is intermittent. The bike is stock except for the Ducati reverse shift kit. What's got
Me concerned is that there was quite a bit of
Metal on the oil drain plug at the first service. Is this unusual or typical?

when I had my reverse (GP style), I had to play with gear position linkage at the gearbox on the shaft and the gearbox pushrod to make it shift right. so you may have to do the same. it could be the position you have now is marginal and also it won't hurt to check the pins(harness) making sure good contact

I spent some time thinking about it and think the problem might be the lever too low so the shift mechanism isn't fully unloaded so it doesn't fully reset. I will make an adjustment and see.

Just to follow up, I raised the shifter back up and it shifts fine. I'd like to get the lever lower, but not sure if that'll be possible with the stock rearsets.
