Bought a new Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. It's beautiful, loud, fast, sexy, did I mention loud? 6.0L N/A V12. It's ... on wheels. Except for the transmission. It's dogshite - a single clutch automated manual. The quick shifter on the Panigale is so infinitely better it's laughable.

That said, did I mention the sound of that V12? Holy crap. It's amazing. Fantastic. I love the car. But really, they need to just talk to someone, anyone, who knows transmissions.

Nice ride. Weren't you looking at some other kind of car? Something more rare and exotic? I could be mistaken.

My ultimate car...crappy transmission or not ... :)

oh my, I'm so sorry. I would personally never deign to drive a plebian car such as an Aston. Oh, what would the boys at the club say if I drove one!

Kidding aside, the Vantage is one of my favorite car designs. It's just stunningly beautiful, yet does not draw unwanted attention from proletarian gawkers.

It's a shame that the semi-auto is still single clutch. I'd love to own a work of art like an Aston, but due to reasons of practicality I doubt I'd get anything nicer than a 911 Turbo.

Not that I drive much anyways. I put less than 1000 miles on my Audi RS6 in the past 12 months. Needless to say, I don't think about cars or driving cars much :p

i'm sorry to hear you are experiencing such "troubles"

Perhaps you could sell your sports cars are that are probably worth in excess of $400,000 and get yourself a more inexpensive vehicle and donate the left over monies to a worthy cause like animal shelters and poverty…
And Pee ...…..
…..thanks for NOT showboating…

This just made me realize im poor

Enjoy the car. James May and Jeremy Clarkson hated the tranny too..

Oh great a thread in which I can brag about my Aston

Can we make this a sticky

Now back to these damn motorcycles

Yup - first deliveries to the US aren't slated until December 2016 though - which probably means mid-2017. Going out to Sweden in October to spec the car.

And to the haters - I actually posted this to show how awesome our bikes are vs such an exotic car in terms of something so important as the clutch. And presumably the amount of people who love loud, sexy exotic motorcycles is very closely related to the the number of people who love loud, sexy exotic cars.

You're right, I could. Or I could do both. I got married recently, and in lieu of gifts we asked our guests to donate to a pair of charities (Avon Breast Cancer and African Wildlife Fund). They ponied up $50K, which I then matched. And then my employer matched the whole amount. So $200K delivered to deserving organizations.

That's great to hear.
Please excuse my pontification...

And please accept my apologies for prejudging you....but perhaps selling one or both of your super cars would further help out the less fortunate in war stricken or 3rd world countries ?

Just a thought....

why don't we ALL sell our unneeded, luxury motorcycles, which a top of the line Ducati is, and donate that to the starving and destitute in third world countries?

nevermind that large percentages of donations are soaked up by operating expenses, highly paid "consultants", bribes, and political red tape. How do you think the folks in Washington DC afford THEIR Astons??

Exactly!! Better idea is to NOT help anyone, NEVER do an ounce of good because most of it will be wasted.. I agree with this..

And don't even get me started on starving children right here in our own country... Who cares!!!.. They don't live near me and my kids don't go to school with THOSE kids.. Philanthropy and Volunteering is way over rated.. You only live once.. Spend you money on all the wants..
Can you show off your volunteer hours on Facebook? NO.. Do you get "Likes" on your youtube video if you help the poor.. NOT as many as you would if you just added a Full Titanium exhaust for $4300.. Hell yeah
If poor people wanted to change their situation, they would.. They are just lazy.. right??????
